I got my free movies! but...

Well I got my free movies from Toshiba Today... WOOT... but... there's a Downside. I only got ONE of the ones I chose.

Okay... okay... they were free... yes. Sadly I already have Doom on DVD and never found it worthy of HD-DVD'ness... I already have the Volume's 1-5 Harry Potter set.. Streets of Fire sounds okay... but BULLETPROOF?! Good GOD!

Actually, I received my movies just recently also. And in the span of the 12 weeks it took to get them, I forgot and already picked up a copy of Pitch Black. So, I could trade you my Pitch Black for your Harry Potter disc?

Bulletproof is one of Adam Sandlers better movies! I think him and Damon Wayans really worked well together in this movie.

One of my favorite exchanges between Adam Sandler's character, and Damon Wayans's characters:

I haven't gotten my 5 free movies yet, but if I don't get the ones I asked for.....GRRRR.

I wonder if they are 'running out' of on hand stock of their give away movies, and now just giving out whatever.

Nice... I'll think about it. The more I think about it the more I might not mind having a second copy... considering that it is the HD-DVD/DVD combo format... it might be nice to have around.

Bahh... I've been thinking about it and I think I'll keep them. I mean free is free right? I'm just a little bothered that I didn't get what I wanted from them.

Just got off the phone with the "perfect offer" folks. I sent my form in at the end of Feb. and had them put me in the computer even before they got the form. Sped things up as when I called today, the movies were boxed up ready to go.

Now, I asked which ones I was getting since it has become clear that people are not getting the ones they requested (not a big deal, they are free...)

I will be getting the following:

BABEL
HP5
Red Dragon
Doom
Streets of Fire

The gentleman on the phone was very nice (same that I talked to before) and said he would see if they could replace the HP5 as I already have it. Put me on hold, and then came back to tell me that the ones I will be getting are ALL THEY HAVE LEFT.

So, anyone who sent their form in close to the purchase deadline can look forward to the titles above, as there were no movies to replace the replacements. Still 5 free flicks.

I'm willing to give streets of fire a chance, and Doom wasn't that terrible from a production design standpoint (being a theatre designer that can make a film worth watching for me even if the story loses me)

Just thought you all might like to hear that bit of info, from the horses mouth.

I called yesterday and I had sent the form in mid january and they said it will be a couple of weeks. But they told me I was getting the same moves I requested.

They had to replace The Thing and Charlie, with Pitch Black (well, ok it was a toss up between the two) and HP5. I ebayed that one. I was also a little dismayed it was the old Troy and not the new cut (I know thats the one some got). BUT they were free and they werent utter crap (actually, Streets of Fire might have been a cool sub....its campy goodness). Also, ended up getting Charlie at CC this week for %50 off.

Exactly the same with me, i got one of my chosen selection and it took about 4 months

GREAT! We are getting crapola for replacements. I actually thought Toshiba was gonna pull thru on this deal. Guess I was too optimistic. I have two orders coming. Sounds like I can expect to get some shitty movies. How hard was it for them to plan for the amount of players they produced. Sounds like they were way off in their preparation. Damnit this pisses me off free or not. The last of us might even get 300 and bourne identity as our freebies lmao!

Thanks for posting it, it's good to know so I can prepare myself for dissapointment. Where did you get the number you called. Is it on the order form. I have a copy of that at home.

It pisses me off mostly because I bought up the deals online except for the ones on the list that I wanted and now I may get what I have already bought. GRRRR!

I got most of what I ordered, all I have to get is Full Metal Jacket and Frighteners.

FYI, to anyone in Canada, (my local) Best Buy has HD DVD starting at $7.99, just picked up Pulse.

They didn't mark out the barcodes on 4 of the movies they gave me. So I took them to Wal Mart and they gave me $101 in credit for them

They weren't really free They paid me for them. I bought an HD-a3 at best buy on 1-20 for $145 with 9 free movies. I'm thinking great deal then on 2-20 Circuit City dropped there price to $99 so I take my recipt to Best Buy and they Match it plus 10% so I got 9 free movies and the HD-A3 Player for $94.99 I'm thinking Great then Best Buy gives me a $50 Gift Card so I get 9 free movies and the HD-A3 player for $44.99. Today I took back 4 of the free movies to Wal-Mart and they gave me $101 in store credit. So they gave me a HD-A3 player I kept 6 movies and have $56.01. What a deal

I should be getting my movies in "a few weeks", but I forgot to ask them which ones I'd be getting. Judging by everyone's posts so far, the likelyhood that I'll be getting everything I ordered is slim. I agree, free or not, and "while supplies last" or not, it is very disappointing.

However, I also got the $50 rebate from Amazon, and ordered 4 HDDVDs last night. I find it hillarious, however, that I ordered them "standard shipping", and they'll be here this Thursday. The Toshiba offer discs? Who knows when they'll actually get here.
