FYI...
> Blu-ray Manufacturers Testing New Materials (improvements that will also lower costs)
> Steven Soderbergh's TRAFFIC on Blu-ray 5/30 - a German-edition release of the movie which won the Best Director OSCAR for Soderbergh - no word yet on whether it will be 'region-coded' yet.
Note: the previous Universal HD-DVD release of Traffic is considered to be among one of the WORST quality transfer ever for the format, so hopefully the Blu-ray will be a re-master (and also region-free to import).

Also...
> Alex Proyas' oustanding DARK CITY possible Blu-ray release - later this year, and in a longer 'Director's Cut' (awesome!)
This movie (co-written by David Goyer) is one of my earliest DVD purchases (anamorphic, with great Roger Ebert commentary track too), after owning the Widescreen LaserDisc as well.

Ironically, I just posted in a thread on another forum where a this question was posed: What Criterion movies would you get on Blu-ray if they were to be released on the format? Well, among my several responses, the Criterion version of Traffic appeared. Oh yeah, I'd pick that up in a heartbeat.
On another note, Dark City is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is an absolute masterpiece, and I would travel far in order to pick that one up on Blu. Yes, indeed.

Not only those gvortex, but also the Criterion edtions of Gimme Shelter (the Rolling Stones), Spartacus, The Graduate, The Devil and Daniel Webster, Citizen's Kane, The Third Man, Halloween (the ONLY release where the photography/transfer was done properly, according to the D.ofP.), RoboCop (ditto again on the photography/transfer issue), Straw Dogs, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and several others I'm sure.
