Hi.
Question: What do we do with ALL of our present DVDs?
Are DVDs useless NOW because of this EVENTUAL Total Domance by Blu- Ray?
I love and have a Panasonic DVD/VHS combo recorder, on the fritz now BUT I will have it repaired shortly. ...AND I absolutely love the DVD-RAM What do we do about ALL the DVD-type stuff that "WE" already have? Are they ALL useless now?
I'm personally pissed about SONY having a literal monopoly on Blu-Ray and literally forcing everone to switch to thier format. Was this the result of the writers strike, forcing a single disc format that can NOT be recorded/pirated? (...for NOW, but later?) Watch SONY'S profits go through the roof with all this! Then what?
When will, AND how much will a Blu-Ray RECORDER be available on the market. I PERSOANLLY, will NOT buy, anything, a Blu-Ray UNTIL I can get a Blu-Ray recorder.
Feedback anyone?

That's really silly! (^abovee)
Are your DVDs not worth watching or worthless while you wait for another 10 years (or longer) to see each title eventually show up on Blu-ray? Do you realize how long it will take for Blu-ray to ever equal the VERY large number of titles released on DVD, LaserDisc, and VHS?
Your DVDs are not 'useless' - however you may wish to sell unwanted titles occasionally (eBay, Amazon, etc), when upgrading to the Blu-ray edition, or if you are tired of it.

What you talking about? When did blu-ray become the dominant disc format in the US or the world??
You upgrade what you want to see in 1080p and 'lossless' audio quality, that's it...

"WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT...?"
..."IS" that the recent publicity regarding the TOTAL conversion to Blu-Ray by some companies and that they NO-LONGER will produce movies in DVD or HD-DVD. This ROYALLY (!) annoyed me, and I paniced, ...wondering what to do with all those DVD's I love "PLUS" the DVD's I have recorded INCLUDING the ones I made on DVD-RAM.
I love the entire thing about DVDs and absolutely hate the pirated ones because I love the "special features" the OFFICIAL one have you can look at a speacial feature segment, interesting facts, :"How-It-Was-Made/How-They-DID-That" segments, learn things you never knew or just guessed-at, ...all without looking at the loneger movie.i
ANYWAY, you're right, in one earlier reply, it WILL take a long-LONG-time for Blu-Ray to catch-up to the humungous amout of DVDs already out there on the market.
"MAYBE" my panic wasn't necessary, ...BUT that,, all-over-the-mass-media/televiosn, etc., announcement DID piss-me-off

Terry dude you need to take a chill pill. As far as I know, no studio has announced they are ceasing production of DVD's......Blu Ray has become the favored HD disc format, but regular DVD's are not going away anytime soon.
If you are referring to the demise of HD DVD...then yes join the club of disappointed fans like myself who preferred that format.
