I watched "30 Days of Night". What a piece of crap!
Clumsy, lack of motive or purpose and nothing more than a pointless gore fest. Chalk it up to another lame installment in the horror genre.

I saw "30 Days of Night" last night. I was prepared for the worst from all the hate this film has been getting, and maybe that's why but I kinda liked it. A lot of these vampire movies have the children of the night jumping 20 feet in the air in a way that doesn't look believable at all, but this movie didn't have any of that going on. I definitely would have done a few things differently, but it's nowhere near the stinker people have been labeling it as in reviews.

Like . . . perhaps . . . have a tangible plot?!

I watched an oldie but goodie last night, "The Thing". My daughter's never seen it. She found the FX fake but she thought it was much better than 30 Days of Night. Overall, it's still a decent stand up sci-fi/horror film. I'd have to say it has stood the test of time rather well, even if the FX are a bit laughable in today's standards.

Tim, I warned you about "30 days of night" and you ignored it. So any pain suffered is your own fault!

We watched ID4 br (and ate a lot of popcorn) last night, and tonight we watched Gattaca br.

Tomorrow night we watch Bonnie and Clyde br I think, or perhaps Atonement HD DVD. So many hard choices in life.

Holy Crap, Man I was totally not expecting this but I randomly figured I'd watch a few minutes of a documentary called Steep that I didn't care much about while I ate my dinner before I put in No Country. And I eneded up watching all of the documentary. If you've never heard of it Steep is this new extreme skiing documentary they just released. And its freaking dope man. This is one of the freshed Skiing/Snowboarding flicks I've ever seen. It was exhilarating, death defying, action packed, inspiring and so much more. I really wasnt expecting this. You guys gotta check this one out, makes me want to go play with fire or dodge cars on the freeway or something, man I'm pumped now.

I didn't want to see it, my daughter's the one that had been bugging me to see it because she's at that "teen" age where she's all into the horror genre. I tried to warn her that the reviews wern't all that good, so it is really her that listened to either of us. Nevertheless, she did agree it sucked!

Since we're continuing...I'm hoping to watch the last episode of Def Poetry Season 6 tonight and then we're going to dive into the Blu Ray of Dreamgirls.

Jason, T-minus 2 days until we watch Planet Earth in high def

Tuesday night we watched "There Will Be Blood" and I have to agree with most critics as it turned out to be a pretty good film. I can certainly agree that Daniel deserved the Academy Award, but oddly enough he was not a character you could like or love. He was such a selfish, stuborn character, but then most the characters in the movie were not likable, either. Nevertheless, it turns out to be a very well crafted drama. 8/10

I should also mention that I've never seen a DVD case quite like the one for "There Will Be Blood". It's obviously one of those "going green", environmental friendly cases as it is thin in cardboard, recycled paper. As if we have a major epidemic of people throwing away all their plastic slip cases.

Last night the daughter and I watched "Across The Universe" and found it quite enjoyable. I usually don't care for musicals, but with all the music coming from The Beatles, it's a little hard to fail. Plus, with the music being so enjoyable it's a film with a lot of great repeat value -- I know I liked it so much that I'm looking forward to seeing it again very soon. It really had a good theme about it as everything in the film has some relation to Beatles songs -- such as the main characters having the names of Jude and Lucy. Or Jude's friend Max making use of a silver hammer. Either way it was an enjoyable film that I can easily recommend on any level. 8/10

Yeah really!

I enjoyed "Across the Universe" too, which I bought blind on one of my Amazon orders. I especially liked that part with whats-her-name singing "I wanna hold your hand". That was great. Glad I have it.

wolfen, agreed. "The Reaping" was very lame - not even worth a rental really. Glad I don't have it.

Well I just received yet another movie from zip.ca. I got Deer Hunter on HD DVD which I'll be watching tonight. I've been wanting to see this movie for months.

This zip.ca free 2 week trial period has been amazing. I've been sent 8 HD DVD's to watch for FREE and they ship FAST. This thing blows away Blockbuster and Rogers video plus it's a lot cheaper. I'm gonna keep using this online rental service and I hope the service stays the same after the trial period is over.

So ya Deer Hunter for me tonight and if there's time Wolf Creek also.

No DVD watching tonight, people. New Battlestar Galactica is on at 10 pm.

Tomorrow, though, we dive into Planet Earth with a brand new TV.

I'll probably watch SUPERBAD tonight and fit the Miss USA swimsuit contest in, lol. It's legal in my house as I'm single, haha. My cat wont object (he likes the ladies too).

Ironbull I liked 3:10 to Yuma, not the greatest movie ever but better than I expected.

Well I didn't get to watch Deer Hunter last night but I did watch Wolf Creek. My GF thought it was so slow (it was very late at night and we were both tired so maybe our patience was a little low) and boring.

I have the same opinion of it and I just want to add that "horror" movies frustrate the crap out of me sometimes. There were scenes in this movie where I was like "SHOOT HIM!" or "TAKE THE GUN WITH YOU" and I was commenting about other stuff too (I usually don't say anything during movies but these characters were driving me nuts). I guess they are trying to drag the movie on or something but the way some of these characters handle these situations is unrealistic in my mind and thus takes me out of the movie.

When the train rolled into the station it was as if it were going to come out of the screen into my theater room! I found the audio to be crystal clear! That scene deserves demo status!
