Top billing goes to:

Pick any one of his movies . . . really, any one, it doesn't matter:

How this guy manages to stay in the business, I'll never know!

How this one went from Academy Award Winner to the most atrocious performance of Catwoman, I'll never know! All I can say is it must have been a pretty big paycheck.

Eventhough I find this one scene funny just because it's soooo bad, I think this is one of Paxton's most annoying performances to date. You get even more of it watching the director's cut of the movie.

Ok, now I'm curious what YOU all think are bad actors and/or performances. Duplications are welcome.

Catwoman was bad I had to turn it off.
Most of the acting in Annapolis was bad.

Tim,
I agree with all you posted, except for...
Paxton's role as Hudson.
He's the biggest reason I watch that movie repeatedly. He's so stupid, he's funny.
Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Vasquez: No...have you?

Tim,
I've got to agree with wolfen. Paxton's character in "Aliens" is such a whiner, he's downright funny.
Now, has anybody actually seen Tom Green in "Freddy Got Fingered"? Or Demi Moore in "The Scarlet Letter"? You're better off.

Jaws 4. Not only does the family fly to the bahamas to avoid the shark, but the shark knows this and beats the brody clan to the bahamas. yes, shark travel is faster than airplane travel

Sophia Coppola in Godfather 3, the movie is admittedly the weakest of the three but her performance alone drops it one star.

Really? Well, not for me! I found Paxton's character about as annoying as this guy:

then again, I can't think of anything I found Paxton or Tucker in as passable acting.

Agreed. Her acting alone is what killed GF3, IMO.

Bill Paxston in Aliens is frakin great! As a kid...he was simply classic. We use to oneline him all the time. Don't be a hater.

Bladerunner1, I saw Attack of the Clones on IMAX and all of the stupid, so called "love" stuff was cut out and it mostly had just the action scenes in it...IT WAS GREAT!!! Seeing Yoda at about 20ft tall was awesome and the sound was incredible. The bass vibration from the lightsabers was the best.

Attack of the Clones in my opinion....is the worst star wars movie. I hated it. I am actually one of the few that likes "Menace". And "SITH" actually made me want to see more crap. But deep down it's all about the original.......oh wait...."Jedi" could have been better...Star wars plays out alot better in the mind (save ANH/ESB) than on the screen......Plus them toys sure are cool!!! )

Keanu Reeves in Bram Stoker's Dracula. Awful, awful, awful, even for Reeves.
By the by, Christensen may have been sub par in 'Clones', but he's amazing in Shattered Glass.

Tim, this is so funny, I love ALIENS and I have to two disk special edition (as a matter of fact it's in my laptop as I type this). Bill Paxon's role was silly to say the least. When he is on the APC being dropped to the surface in the Ultimate Bad Ass scene, that segment was terrible acting, but when he said to put the little girl in charge now that was funny and kind of almost ginuwine.

agreed! Jack Black just doesn't do serious well at all. Didn't like him much in the holiday either, except when he was being a goof at the video store. that suits him fine. but his role in king kong was annoying.
also agree with anikin and padime being the worst of all time. the fireplace scene makes me vomit.
disagree with bill paxton. not my favorite, but he is entertaining to me. then again, the reason i like him is because i thought he was hilarious in weird science. loved his a$$hole big brother character. I was in early teens when that one came out.

I agree, Bill Paxton isn't the greatest actor in the world, but, I do like most of his performances. I thought he did well as "Bill Harding" in "Twister". His role as "Hudson" in "Aliens", was great, and he fit the role well! After all, Paxton may have spawned the most quoted line in Sci-fi movie history... "GAME OVER, MAN, GAME OVER!"
As for bad performances, I'd have to agree on Hayden Christiensen & Natalie Portman, in Episodes II & III. Specifically, the scene where Aniken kills all of the "Sand People", then comes back and WHINES to Amidala about what he did.
Or the part where Amidala falls quite a few stories out of the transport ship, while chasing "Duku", she's knocked out for a few moments, then gets up like she woke up from a nap, helps a storm trooper to his feet, rattles off something like "c'mon, we've got to get back", and runs out of the shot as if nothing happened. Lame.

Come on Josh! You have to be kidding?! The worst thing about Twister was Paxton's lame lead role abilities! His acting is atrocious no matter which way you look at it. My next door neighbor's eight-year old kid could do a better acting job! Hell, I could act circles around the bozo! It really wasn't Helen Hunt’s best film, either, but even she upstaged him for the mediocre role she had. Then again, Twister was merely entertaining only for a pointless CGI extravaganza. lol

Eddie,
Don't piss the guy off or he'll drink your milkshake.
I love Daniel Day-Lewis in The Age of Innocence. He can definitely do more than just "big" acting, but I'm not a fan of him in his Bill the Butcher or Bill the Butcher Goes A' Drilling mode. I wouldn't call it bad acting, though. He's bringing an intensity to those roles that goes beyond mere method acting scerey chewing he's got a physical presence to him that method hams don't. It just doesn't quite work for me, like it does with a Toshiro Mifune or even John Wayne. No reason why - just a matter of taste.

SPOILER ALERT!
Eddie,
I saw the movie a few nights ago, but I only remember him going over-the-top a couple times. For the most part, he was a pretty low-key, arrogant character that was difficult to connect with, mainly because he just wasn't likeable. If that's what the director intended to do with the character, then, well, I guess he did his job. You know how most films have a redeeming character we can root on? Well, the problem with TWBB is just about every character in the film has absolutly no redeeming value. Hell, I didn't even like the preacher kid, and in some sick way, I almost felt he desrved the beating he got. Even Bill's boy tried to burn their house down while dad was sleeping. Granted, the kid deserved punishment, but not complete abandonment by the father. However, it just points out that yet again there's nobody to connect with or like in the movie. Even though the film turns out to be a well crafted drama, it's still a very odd film in that there's really no real hero or redeeming characters to fall in love with -- it was pretty much greedy bad guy vs. deranged phsycho.

I have to agree with Tim's assessment of "There Will Be Blood." It's Daniel Day-Lewis from beginning to end, and his character is a SOB who's in every scene. If this had been, like, a ninety-minute movie, it might not have been so bad, but the dang thing goes on for something like seven unrelenting hours. Or days, I forget. Then it ends with the most ridiculous scene I've watched in years, and you're left wondering what all the fuss was about.

John,
I have to agree with the length of the film. And being there really were no characters to connect with or love, it made the time seem even longer. Then that ending went over-the-top and seemed so abrupt for something that took so long to get to. However, I felt a sense of relief when it was finally over. As I mentioned, I think it was a well crafted drama, but not one that was very redeeming or that much enjoyable.
