I have to say for me it would be between Shawshank Redemption, The Empire Strikes Back (yes this is a serious contender), and Cinderella Man.
It's so hard to choose ONE best movie of all time. Depends a lot on the person and their tastes like John mentioned.

My favorites
Apocalypse Now
Master and Commander
300
Hero
Could list many more but these I can watch over and over!
I think I can recite Apocalypse Now start to finish "SIAGON! SH*T! I'M STILL ONLY IN SIAGON......"

Ironbull, 300, are you serious???
Oh, since we changed from 'movie' to 'movieS'...
Citizen Kane (just a wonderful production)
Apocalypse Now Redux
Toy Story (don't make me start)
Now, we can start with the ones 'we can watch over and over again'
-Hellboy
-Superman 2
-Any Pixar film
-Air Force One
...
EDIT: OH, and for best pic, I forgot 2001...

300 has got Balls that is what I like about it.
I forgot about HellBoy.
I really enjoy reading Historical Naval Fiction (Alan Lewrie HUZZAH!) I haven't read Patrick O'Brian yet
but Master and Commander (the movie) brought the genre to life!
