Catwoman!

Sahara

Couldn't make it past 6 minutes. Glad it was a rental. Only movie I ever shut off. Maybe I just really wasn't in the mood. Might give it another try on HD, let the AV qualities try to win me over.

my wife had input on this one as well:

Beauty Shop

no explanation needed.

Hey, I wanted to like this film (and risque humour), but I barely made it to the end. Even the sexy Jessica Biel couldn't save this film from being very lame, and hardly ever funny.

I walked out on Juno twice. I can't judge the whole thing, not having seen it, but the dialogue was so unbearable I just couldn't take it. Friends told me it got better after the first 20 minutes, but I'll probably never know.

kudesignguy, The GF got me Sahara on HD DVD and it is a beautiful image to watch. Crystal clear. The movie however...6/10. I'd say rent it.

Happy Feet (Watching a penguin dance for that long is beyond boring even if the graphics were eye popping)

Cool World

Oh, btw, I liked Catwoman. Halley was very hot and the story was soso.

Chuck and Larry was hillarious! Oh Brother where art thou was a classic!

Oh well, were all entitled to our opinions.

No offence the last movie I turned off was "Deadwood" the premier.

Perhaps not the worst of all time, but darn close:

BTW, whoever mentioned Sahara as one of the worst movies... you really should have tried to make it past the opening credits. I'm glad I did.

ReaggieP... parts of Chuck & Larry were indeed 'hilarious' (for a moment), but was overshadowed MOST of the time by the lack of humour, and just too much crude material and stereotyping (Rob Schneider etc). However, they did end it on a high note storywise (the courtroom scene), but by then it was just too late to care.

I loved 'O Brother', and also bought the soundtrack. Another disappointing film (which I rented on HD-DVD) is Lucky Slevin - a very complex plot, and really never satisfying. Don't know why many like this film, as you can't follow the story's details until they get explained by the 3rd act. I think it was trying to be like The Usual Suspects (somewhat), but failed.

There was a movie a while back with Jodie Foster (?)...I think it was called Contact or something like that.

Yeah that sucked.

I'm always amused by the "best" and "worst" lists published by professional films critics at the end of each year, because invariably somebody's "best" is somebody's else's "worst" and vice versa. For instance, I consider "Contact" one of the best pure science-fiction films of the past twenty years.

Me too. And this would look and sound pretty sweet on Blu-ray. I know it was nominated for an Oscar for best sound, but didn't win.

Contact was the last good movie she did. Although the ending could have been better...The tropical island part. Wait, Panic Room was pretty good...

Tom: Mr. Garrison. Mr. Garrison.

Mr. Garrison: Where-eh, where am I?

Tom: The operation is over, Mr. Garrison.

Mr. Garrison: Uuf, I feel weak. How do I look?

Tom: You look great!

Mr. Garrison: Ah-I feel kinda nauseous.

Tom: Yes? Well, that's to be expected. We did some major reconstruction, sawed through some bone, ssnapped some cartilage…

Mr. Garrison: Aauugh-huh.

Tom: …all the blood and mucus just the sound of bone and sinew coming apart. [starts making sound effects of tearing flesh]

Mr. Garrison: UUUUUuuuuuugh

Tom: By the way, did you ever see that movie Contact? [Mr. Garrison pops up and turns to the side of the bed]

Mr. Garrison: Bluuuch…Bluuuch…Bluuuch…Oh, stop, that movie was terrible!

Tom: I'm sorry, Mr. Garrison. Why don't you get some rest [Mr. Garrison lies down] I'll check on you a little later. [walks out]

Mr. Garrison: Wuch, uch. Boy I had to see the entire movie to see the alien and it was her goddamned father!

I have to agree with John and others, Contact was really a great film. It's easily a decent film for repeat value as I enjoy popping it into the DVD player a couple times a year. Great visuals, good story and just an all around enjoyable film.
