AnyDVD HD to support "proactive renewal" of AACS
11 April 2008 5:15 by Matti "Siggy" Vähäkainu | 19 comments

The Advanced Access Content System Licensing Administrator, LLC (AACS LA) has once again started a so called "proactive renewal", which would renew the protection system for the upcoming HD titles, such as Region B Blu-ray titles Alien vs. Predator 2: Requiem and Alvin and the Chipmunks. SlySoft quickly answered with an update for its AnyDVD HD that will allow users to continue to enjoy their movie collection on which ever equipment they prefer.

The v6.4.1.1 AnyDVD HD offers a support for upcoming high-definition discs and thus removes the need to update the playback software and/or hardware. All licensed users of the software can download the new v6.4.1.1 AnyDVD HD free of charge.

"This again is a great feature for our customers. Only a few days before the official release of new titles we already can say, you can continue to watch your favorite movies on your favorite equipment. Not only the equipment the industry forces you to use," said Fernando Cabezas from SlySoft.

Falcon are you using the software? Are you using the internal ripper, or something different. I managed to get clone2 to work with HD DVD but not BR yet.

No I don't use it. I don't even have a hidef drive hooked up to my computer. Besides I'm getting original copies of HD DVD's for really good prices right now so it's not worth the effort for me.

The reason I posted this is because I found it odd that they cracked movies that weren't out yet.

Fair enough. The guys that develop the software have insiders in the industry, to get the codes weeks, if not months before the actual consumer release. When DVD first got launched these guys had already cracked the Code. The first Movie I ever backed up was The Matrix, on a 4.7Gb disk. I had a HP 200i DVD writer that cost $499 and was only 2X... LOL I think the best you can still buy is 8X. 16X drives still cause errors. Most of the media to date still have issues. My HD DVD write only writes at 1X. Too bad there's no new replacement for it. BR writers are still $500 or a little less. I'm not that crazy to spend that cash nowadays.
