Great heads-up xplaytendo!

Along with the fine Panasonic players, the Sony PS3 is the best quality player, great online support (firmware updates and constantly added features), excellent stability and movie BD compatibility, PS3 games, hi-def premium audio, multiple format playback, and DVD upconversion to 1080p as well.

And that $299 price (after becoming a new Sony card member) is perfect. I've owned the original 60GB model (since June 2007), and love it, along with other Msg Bd members here (Skyhawk, Tony, kucoloco, etc).

Oh God. Have we not already talked enough about how great the Ps3 is. Can't we talk about some recievers or something that decodes all the new codecs and how great they are? I already have the player,I need advice on extracting the best possible sound...for the cheapest price available. Hendix...This sounds like a thread for you bud.

That is not a new deal. Been around for long time now. Plus, as a HD DVD fan I will only buy a blu ray player from a company other than SONY. Sony can kiss my ........

"Best" is exaggerating a little. I personally prefer the Panasonic, it's the best for my needs.

Why do people keep thinking the PS3 is flawless?

Can I interest you in a combo player from Samsung

Perhaps something in the line of the BD-UP5000

hoodaguy, flawless is a bit much (it will be flawless when they correct system crashes as a result from updating), but saying it's the best Blu-ray player for the buck is the spot on truth.

I still fail to see how after firmware updates you sometimes have to send in the unit for repairs, the lack of an IR remote, etc. as "best bang for the buck."

Don't get me wrong, it has been an excellent machine for many people. But by the same token, it has also become a huge nightmare.

Some of you folks need to let go of the Sony hate. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

PS3 is undoubtedly the best BD player to date.
