I've given into the fact that Blu Ray won. I will buy a player when they come down in price and when the finished version is out(plays all features). However, Sony products will never be introduced into my house again. Not only because they purchased the movie studios but because they make poor quality products as well. Lots of bugs in everything they make. I have found that in some of the products I have owned from them and reading in forums.

wolfen - it has nothing to do with Sony hatred, it has to do with the quality of the product.
The only advantage the PS3 really has right now is that it is 2.0 compliant. For me, and I'm sure for a lot of people, that doesn't mean much since who really uses online features anyways?
I'd much prefer owning a player specifically and solely designed for Blu-ray playback, like my Panasonic. I've had no problems with it, and I haven't heard anybody else have problems with it either.
I just can't bring myself to say the same for the PS3 though. I've read threads about people having to send back the unit because it stopped playing all of a sudden. I've also read threads about people having to send back a unit after simply updating the firmware due to a glitch within the system.
Honestly, how is that the best? Oh, it's the best because you own it. Now I see. But I just hope for your sake that it continues to be one of the good machines, because from a realistic perspective, this sounds a lot like Russian Roulette to me.

hoodaguy, I think since the format war is over your looking to start another war.
STAND ALONE vs. PS3. To me the choice is obvious. What happen to all those agruements that HDDVD supporters gave when it came to their players being complete with internet connectivity. Now they settle for none at all. Like I said before the PS3 is not flawless. There are some issues with the PS3, update risks and no analogs but no other player can compete. Now when the Panasonic BD 50 comes out then there might be a new king of the hill but even then it's still not WiFi nor will it cost under $600. I don't need to spend an extra $200 just so the HD audio lights on my Onkyo can light up.
EDIT: The update risk exists in every player HDDVD or Blu-ray. If the file gets corrupted during the prcoess or if the process goes bad it's going to brick any HD machine not just the PS3. The reason why it'smore likely to happen to the PS3 because the machine is upgradeable from 1.0 to 2.0 profile.

I'm not trying to start any wars, I'm just stating facts. If I had to choose between a reliable player that has had little to no reported problems, or the PS3 that has had to be sent back to the manufacturer from a glitch just from an update, I'd choose the Panasonic every single time.
I didn't like the PS3 before when it didn't have an IR remote, and I'm certainly loving my Panasonic a lot more knowing that I won't have to send the dang thing back if my firmware update goofs.

Well the one thing that I'm glad to see is that you're finally Blu. I don't care how you got here but at least you're here, because I thought you would never join the dark side.
And as far as an IR remote $10 bucks and your harmony remote will solve that issue.

Sure, just like there is a risk that a meteor might crash into my player tomorrow night at 8 p.m. Central Time. Plain and simple, only the PS3 has had the major update problem so far. So yes, while risk may exist in every player, it's just not happening.

I see you're the same ol' hoodaguy. Always on a search and destroy mission. Now if we can just get your twin brother Invisible Biker to show we would have a family reunion.

What mission? I said the PS3 is fine for some people. I'm allowed to disagree that it is the best player though, because it most certainly isn't, and I'm sure I'm not the only person that says so. If I had one and that update mucked it up, I'd be furious. That's all I was saying.
