I just got my PS3 back today. Two weeks to the day. I updated it to v2.3. I must say that was quick service from SONY. I'm watching Aragon and the dts HD/MA track is playing. It sounds pretty good.

You know for $300 you get a great gaming console and a bluray player. It's not a bad deal.
The credit card thing though, I wouldn't do it.

Hoodaguy... why are you harping about a GAME CONSOLE not coming with a wireless remote (for playing movies)? Now I'm no fan of sony game consoles, either... but would you like it better if these game consoles included a remote control - and an additional 20 bucks to the price?
The XBOX 360 "game" consoles do NOT come with a remote (even though it DOES play standard DVD's), but the HD DVD add-on drive does include a wireless remote (although, the original price of the add-on drive is pretty pricey)! The MS 360 Universal remote is 20 bucks (IIRC), but there are third-party brand remotes for a lot less. I'm sure there are similar options for the ps3!
I still would have bought the HD DVD add-on drive - even if it didn't include the remote (and I bought mine before the huge price-drop). Of course, I bought one of the early 360 consoles that included a "Bonus Media Remote" (a limited-time promotion)... so I wouldn't have needed the universal remote, anyway!
Still... I can control any DVD (or HD DVD) functions with the wireless game controllers (albeit, with some clunky navigating with the on-screen controls / menus).
If you're going to bash the ps3... stick with important reasons to bash it... not because it doesn't include a wireless remote! Hell... I hate those damn "D-pads" that are just 4 separate buttons on the ps game controllers! I hated them when my friend wanted me to play a game on his (original) playstation way-back-when... and sony never bothered to improve their crappy controllers on later consoles. At least Microsoft improved on the original XBOX "duke" controllers and designed the much better "s"controllers. MS improves, sony continues to make crap!

What the...why would they try and charge $2,000 for a PS3??
People are having trouble buying the 40GB PS3's for $400.

I personally am holding out for the Sparkomatic/wsu-cevr 90001. This will be the player by which all others will be judged. 1090p resolution,DTScore 3audio dacs,Dolby Digital SUPER plus, and you dont need a television to use it. FANTASTIC. But the best thing of all,it only costs $199.99. Eat that Sony.

hood guy i'm sorry to disagree but what facts are you talking about?
As far as the failure rate of the PS3, I am sure that it numbers in the less than 1% range, just like any other normal electronics.
This whole recent spur of code "093EE234EF" whatever has been blown way out of the water by only a very small minority. As of now, it is really the only failure message and so most people with failures get it. Then, being the popular fail memo, a lot of people (>1% of 11million) google it or create a site for it. The code itself is something rather trite. Anyhow, that "news" is passing and is just a simple gambit by the opposition to give ps3 some bad press.

FYI... another PS3 new feature!
> Sony quietly introduces YouTube Uploading capability from the PS3...
Mainichi Issho, a Japan-only PlayStation Network game that's been out since 2006, has quietly brought a pretty killer function to the PlayStation 3. Players can now record gameplay and upload clips to YouTube from within the console. Better still, Sony has confirmed that the toolset will be distributed to developers to integrate into games at their discretion. With the popularity of fan videos and YouTube, it's great to see Sony embracing networks outside of their own. Good stuff, and forward-thinking on Sony's part.
