dvd.co.uk cancels Charlie Wilson's War prerelease orders

I pre-ordered Charlie Wilson's War on HD-DVD from England back when it first appeard on their HD-DVD coming release section.

I did this as it appeared it would not be released in North America on either HD-DVD or Blu-ray by Universal because the moment Toshiba dropped HD-DVD, Universal scrapped all their future HD-DVD releases...except for Fletch

But, it seems that even Jolly Old England cannot escape the stupidity of Universal...

Let's just hope that my pre-order of the Godfather Trilogy from dvd.co.uk comes through and Paramount doesn't scrap this one

I believe the only way it -might- see an HD-DVD release is thru a different foreign distributor (who holds the home video rights), and good luck on that. Even a possible Blu-ray edition I've yet to locate somewhere, but could happen since Blu-ray is the main hi-def disc standard now, and the rights are different from country to country.

Oh, here's an image to hold you over ...sadly, only a memory of what might have been, as here in North America we know that Atonement is the final Universal HD-DVD release.
