As I'm sure most of you HD dvd player owners know that Best Buy has a trade in deal to give back your HD-Dvd player. I have a Toshiba A-3 with over 30 HD movies including the Blue Planet Sets, Matrix trilogy, etc.. Best buy is only offering me back $30 for my player that is in excellent condition and includes the remote and manual.
Does anyone here think that it is a good idea to go ahead and trade this in to Best Buy, or shoud I try to sell my player on ebay or something. I just bought a PS3 so Now I am looking to completly rid my life of HD. Does anyone think it is a good idea to sell all my HD movies on Ebay or should I trade those in to Best buy as well?
I'm really upset that it had to come to all this crap...At least best buy gave me a $50 gift card towards my PS3 purchase.
I would really appreciate some good feedback on this topic

If you feel you have to "rid yourself" of HD DVD, then ebay is your best bet to get a reasonable amount of your investment back. You may do pretty well, because a large percentage of HD DVD owners, like myself, are buying up cheap HD DVDs left and right. I bought the player when prices were still higher, and I had about 20 movies, so I needed to make a call. I chose to accept the fact that I bought the losing format, buy up all the titles I wanted while the prices are great and while they are still available, and then just add Blu to the mix. HD DVDs are just as good as Blu, because the transfers are identical right now, but you can get many HD DVDs for 10-15, while you'll only find the oldest or bottom-of-the-barrell Blus for that price. My advice - enjoy your HD DVD player, buy some more and make it worthwhile, and also enjoy your PS3. Other than maybe Jono ( ), no one will advise you that there is any reason to unload a perfectly good collection of HD movies for less than they're worth. On the other hand, I'd be happy to take some of them off your hands...

Yeah, don't waste your time. Keep your stuff, and wait for Bllu-Ray to come down in price. If you really want to dump your A3 I'll give you $50 for it.

seems like a waste to dump it all. i'm hanging onto my a-3 and the dozen or so movies i've picked up on the cheap. i have no qualms about hanging onto the gear and software for a few years at least. i figure the a3 will last minimum 5 years. and who knows what the hd marketplace will be like then.
