Sony looks like being the next company to join the digital distribution.

Sony may be launching a PS3 down loadable film service as soon as this summer, and has apparently begun talking to major studios already.

Thats a crazy thing about them. They have to do it to compete with xbox but at the same time they are gonna promote a media which may be the downfall of Blu Ray.

Well if they want to be at the Level of the 360 the PS3 my want to consider making some games that don't suck. They need more than 3 good exclusives.

you could have come up with a better list.
The problem with the sony fanbase has been nobody is buying the good game either.
look at uncharted or ratchet sales, rainbow six 2 sold eight times higher on the 360.
with gta4 coming out in a few days it should be an interesting set of npd numbers

Time Crisis? Uh, no, I dont think so.
The only things on that list that have any chance are MGS and Haze. GT Prologue sold ok so far, but nothing new compared to Forza or PGR. Killzone was a medicore shooter on the PS2 that was gonna "kill Halo"....maybe it did with laughter. Pretty pictures dont make a good game.
Sony has some exclusives coming, but only MGS4 will sell the system, and it isnt Halo.

Some people are questioning why Sony would be trying to get on the download bandwagon - Toshiba said it believed HD player market was limited in size and life which is why they withdrew from the market.
This article suggests Blu-ray still has a struggle on its hands primarily from SD DVD.
Who knows where digital delivery will be by 2013 Sony most likely agree with Toshiba with regards to the lifetime of HD player market.

Further, the state of the Blu-ray player market is not all that encouraging. The Blu-ray installed base today is heavily tilted towards Sony’s Playstation 3. Says Wilson, “The studios better hope that people are playing movies on their Playstations. Otherwise there’s very little installed base. In 2008 about 85% of the Blu-ray players in the market will be found in PS3s the dedicated consumer electronics and PC-based types of Blu-ray players won’t catch up in terms of market share until about 2013.”

Hmmmm...HD-DVD loses the "HD War" and conveniently now Toshiba feels that the market is limited. Okay.
Why wouldn't Sony want a piece of the download market? Cater to those who want physical discs AND to those who prefer the convenience of downloads, and you'll probably do very well. Downloads are competition for the VOD, PPV, and Blockbuster market. Blu-ray's main competition is SD-DVD. Yeah, that may change as technology evolves, but that's probably 5+ years down the line for any significant impact of downloads on actual disc purchases.
Blu-ray won't likely ever have market penetration to the level of SD-DVD, but its selling features will be audiovisual quality and a physical "good" (that many people still value). What percentage of people truly care about audiovisual quality? I don't know, but I do believe that it will be significant enough to be very lucrative for the Blu-ray camp for many years to come. Talk of 1% of the market is very preliminary at this point, as the technology is still in its infancy. Even if they only get 20% of the market, there's big money to be made in that 20%. With the huge upswing in HD television sales, this Christmas season will give a better indication of how many people truly care about the audiovisual quality.

I actually like the Time Crisis games. But I'm not going to buy a PS3 to play a game thats exactly like the other 3. The guncon 3 isn't even backwards compatible with the older lightgun games on PS2, fuck $ony. Tekken 6 will probably be on 360 since Namco isi n good relations with MS now. Most of those titles are bleh.

this just means that even though hd dvd lost, blu-ray also lost.
