Yaknow what company created time crisis? the guys who made goldeneye. Ya know what happened when ms bought rare (that same company)? The lead devs left! Now comes TC4 from their camp, incredible!

-Rare did not make time crisis
-Free Radical, the team formed out of Rare ex-employees is not making time crisis
you have no idea what your talking about.

i would believe you if all the systems other top sellers weren't also shooters.

-6 out of the top 10 selling games are not shooters.

sorry i just threw that in there cuz it sold well and had great reviews.

-are you talking about Time Crisis 4 for the PS3? the game that scored an average of 61%, which = Garbage. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/938758.asp?q=time%20crisis

yeah killzone wasn't as good as halo. Killzone 2 will have an easier time dealing with halo 3.

-Guerrilla-Games hasn't made a game that could be considered above average ever, all the games they have ever made haven't scored over 80%

you go on to list a bunch of games you don't know anything about and call them AAA
haze, 8 days, the getaway, afika, heavy rain.
why would you just consider them AAA?
you have no idea what your talking about.

@rangooth
dude, pacman and beautiful katamari are not exactly known for their in depth programming. Those games care about one thing. Making a game for less than 10,000$ and selling 500,000 copies lifetime.

Yes, i know i had thought i fixed that in the edit but i guess not. I was thinking of something else with time in it, and now im not even sure about the rare part anymore. Oh yeah timesplitters is in the works for ps3. that's what it was. sorry for the confusion. i was gunna say something about timesplitters and then fumbled at... what was it... oh 3 a.m. or so. my bad. incidentally, although you seem to be coming off as a gamer, i thought you at least would have caught that slip and said something like "you're thinking of timesplitters4 idiot." the company, the situation and the name? could it be that you looked your info up on wikipedia?

and whatever 8 out of the top 10 games 360 has are shooters.
and 16 of the 27 games that sold 1 million copies are shooters. the top three are shooters. and blow every other game out of the water by almost double the sales.

it's a good game for what it is man. Buying it and then saying "Oh i would rather play god of war" is not a good review. Read the reviews. Most quoted "If you like gun games (it's a buy)" if not don't waste your time score : 47% whatever. A lot of the top scores said 'Overall very solid game. Just not sure if the genre really matters anymore. though it is a fun game'(paraphrased).

all those games i listed are expected to be AAA and have a lot of hype, a lot of great trailers, and a lot of internet attention. I never said they were AAA, i said they were expected to be. They are getting a similar type of attention that assassin creed got so who knows. "Free Radical" also developed Haze, so i dunno why you included that in your list of what you determine to be a sucky game but whatever.

Apparently, your FANBOY RANT on Blu Ray stems from being a Narrow-minded squid. So let me teach you a thing or two about economics: In order to take advantage of Blu Ray, you HAVE TO SPEND $400 for the player, at least $1400 FOR A DECENT-SIZED 1080p HDTV screen (since owning anything less than 1080p IS DOWNRIGHT STUPID), at least $400 for a good A/V receiver to take advantage of the Blu-ray featured audio formats, and AT LEAST ANOTHER $700-$1000 for a good SIX-SPEAKER-PLUS-SUBWOOFER speaker system, to accomodate that expensive A/V receiver.

TD, I've lost what you're trying to say - I thought you were arguing earlier that downloads will probably kill Blu-ray. Blu-ray's other competition (on top of the obvious SD-DVD competition) would be HD downloads, right? I'm with Skyhawk thinking that this competition is more on the rental side right now, but that's another story. The same people who care enough about HD downloads (instead of SD downloads) also are the people who are likely to have an HDTV and a decent receiver, and of course would also need a computer that is high-end enough to accomodate hooking it up to an HDTV and receiver (unless they just watch it on their computer monitor, I guess). They also need a monthly high bandwidth internet connection, which doesn't come cheap. So, $300-$400 for a Blu-ray player doesn't seem that prohibitive for those who need all that other equipment anyway if they're going to watch HD in one format or another.

If you're arguing that people won't get into HD, period (downloads or Blu-ray) that's one thing, but if you're saying that HD downloads will rule over Blu-ray because of the cost, then that argument doesn't add up to me. If you want the primo set-up with 1080p and 7.1 audio then, yeah, you're going to pay more, but those who choose to watch Blu-ray in 1080i and 5.1 audio (or less) are still getting a higher quality audiovisual experience compared to downloads, at least for the forseeable future, and Blu-ray doesn't represent a substantial price difference given all of the above.

are you talking about sales or overall average rankings

and no i didn't need wiki to tell me about rare and free radical,
I know who works for who, who makes what, what there making now, what they've made, and what they're going to make. I know what they've said at ubidays, i know what was hidden in the christmas card, ... i know a lot.

I knew what you meant to say with time crisis but i just wanted to rub that in a little knowing you said you were a gamer and kept up on all the little details, which made you look silly.

about sony coming out with a digital download service, it won't keep blu ray a niche market, it will keep sony relevant. people live with both right now, one won't kill the other.

tylerdurden,

How do you propose one enjoys a HD downloaded movie. On a expensive Apple TV box or a $1000 HT/PC?

I'm still wating for an answer.

The best possible HD content is Blu-ray 1080p/24... ANYTHING LESS (like Digital Downloads) is not at all appealing to me and my plasma. Once you get the best quality (Blu-ray), you don't want to settle for less.

If this was true, having top the line with the best of the best, I'd be driving a 6 figure car and live in a 7 figure house, maybe in Beverly Hills anyone here selling?

Warner has decided to conduct a little experiment. They are releasing Be Kind Rewind to Blu ray first with the DVD release 1 week later. My bet is if this trend continues with the decline of DVD sales we could possible see the beginning of the end for DVD.

Warner already did after switching to Blu, releasing all HD DVD 3 weeks later. I didn't break down, panic and run out and buy a Blu-ray player just to watch a movie. I waited 3 weeks, so I'm sure I can wait a week.

I'll also pass on this one, that will be a rental.

This is probably an indication that WB are concerned about the up take of BD.
