Blu-ray win not enough to secure Playstation 3 a top spot

I've said it before, and here is the proof. Video Game consoles are not movie players!!!

Socom 4 is going to be a HUGE seller for the PS3. Its a PS3 exclusive as well.

Only if the Xbox 360 launched with the HD DVD drive on board. By the way HD DVD users, the XBOX 360 add on drive fits into the 360 like a glove. The biggest issue was connecting a mini ide to ide cable through the wall to an outboard power supply. It looks tacky as hell, I think I'll go back to leaving it as an add on. So far I can load the dashboard with the HD drive in place, and play movies, but no game support as of yet. I'm working on a fix for that. I'm fearing that the pick up in the HD Drive may not understand the ROM start up info. Wow, I'm too nerdy for my own liking...

By the way I did this on my refurb $100 console from e-bay. My main console still sits untouched.

Maybe everyone is waiting for the Sammy BD50 to be released!

SoCom was a pretty good game, But so many people cheated online it wasn't fun. I just found my socom 1 head set for the ps2 to bad i got rid of the ps2. I wonder if it will work on a pc. Well Socom 4 is not enough to move the ps3 out of last place. With out selling games do they make enough from Bluray movie sales (to be played on the ps3) to make this game system close to profitable? And whats with the blutooth. Universal remotes are awsome and not blue tooth. Well any ways I have never liked any playstation that much. Except for a few games they deserve to be in last place with their crapy FREE online gaming. They need to start charging. The money I pay for xbox live is worth it. 50 busks a year?

I want the special edition PS3, the gray one, with MGS...

Meh, I want a svelt Black PS3... with MGS3. I don't wanna go all around town (or state) Just to get a Limited edition Color.

Either way, I'm pretty sure that The PS3's big seller will be MGS4. I mean seriously... MGS4>SOCOM.

Sony is not looking at Spring 2008 as "their" time to take the #1 spot in the console war. They are looking at Q3 & Q4 2008, with September starting their strongest push into the 2008 Holiday season. From there, 2009 and beyond will be their take-over time.

(inside info on GTAIV: there will be 4 separate DLC episodes, 2 for 360 and 2 for PS3. Eventually they will interchange giving both systems the same 4 episodes to Download.)

I have to argee with superdynamite, the push is here. To think that Blu ray would be the saving grace of the PS3 is absurd. Eveybody knows that it's a gaming machine first and a great option for blu ray second. Now in 08' well see games exclusive to the system that will definitly make the PS3 a must have. What will be M$ excuse when these games hit the shelves. The reason the PS3 out sold 360 is because Blu ray won. Will the MGS4 80 gig outsell the Halo 3 360 edition?.....Who knows but I will say this it will outsell 360 and Wii for that month. If superdynamite is right about the Killzone 2 and LittleBigPlanet release date than this year we could see the PS3 outsell Wii and 360 this holiday season.

Nobody I know even seems a little bit interested in the PS3. Those games just aren't that popular where i live. We are all xbox 360 crazed here in south Florida. And I'm talking about 20 or more people I know that have the 360. The system selling games being Halo 3, COD4 and Tom Clancy Vegas.

Also, You cannot buy a Wii or 360 elite. They sell out immediately.

360 has some good exclusives coming up, IMO much better than ps3 but i got both so who cares

Good luck on that one boys. With the economic state we're in, people will be looking to get their entertainment cheap. Retail sales have already declined since Christmas, and even Christmas was bleek. With the current price of the PS3, it will never be #1 by the end of the year, not even next year. Dream on PS3 shills!

I am in no way a gamer, but my son and my friend are deep into gaming. My son has all three gaming systems and I could not tell you which he uses the most, as he rents games for all three all the time. My friend is Xbox all the way but is considering the Wii.
I think the economic issues across the country is directly affecting the gaming sales, Wii is cheaper so it sells more. It really is that simple, make it affordable and it will sell, especially now that we are in harder financial times. It scares the crap out of me that Blu Ray does not seem to get this and are just sitting back while Netflix raises rental prices, further pushing away customers and letting High Def die. (Too dramatic??)
