Well, Sony delivered the shipping 'Coffin' to return my PS3 for repair today, but the problem is that my PS3 isn't broken.
It has a new RMA# assigned and all.
It has been back for repair 2 times, but I've got a good one now, no problems at all.
I even tempted fate and did the latest Firmware update live via the Internet, and it works perfectly fine afterwards.
My kids watched 'Meet The Robinsons' and 'Invincible' on it last night, trouble free.
Has anyone mistakenly received a PS3 return box when their PS3 wasn't broken, or does Sony know something that I don't know???

I'm curious, VideoCipher. Is your PS3 unit a 20gb, 40gb, 60gb or 80gb?

They sent you a box because the mind control chip in your PS3 is broken. Now, you will box up the PS3 in question and send it back to Sony like a good drone so they can replace the chip and continue selling you junk.

I would disagree the PS3 being junk...I mean, it plays games and blu-rays...it's a bulky, expensive and stubborn box, but oh well...
Maybe they didn't close your last repair ticket and they resend it again...

It's a preemptive strike. They've hired GWB as a consultant effective January 2009.

It's the 80gb model.
The 2 previous repairs were because the unit would not read the discs.
Since the box arrived earlier today, I also have received an email showing the UPS tracking number for the box that I received
All the same from SSC in Laredo, TX.
I'm keeping the box just in case, maybe they goofed on the last repair trip and now need to recall it, but no one has contacted me with a reason to return this one, so I'll keep using it until I need to put it in the box for repair.
I'm waiting to hear that their techs forgot to put a few crucial screws back in place, or that the unit is missing a heatsink clip or something.
So far the only word is they sent me a box, and I'm afraid to call and ask why
