Wow, i wasn't expecting it to pick up such rave reviews!
It's nice to FINALLY see the summer start off with a bang -- espacially after last years disappointing movies.

Creatively, last summer might have been a bust.

Financially? $4.18 billion isn't anything to sneeze at.

Eddie,

Nope, I didn't like any of those you mentioned, especially Transfarters and Pirates of the Chodes 3!

Jason,

I'll agree sales figures are usually good for summer flicks, but last years quality was one of the worst on record.

Goddamn, Iron Man was good.

It might be the best super hero movie ever.

It's probably the best since Superman 2.

I really have no complaints. A solid script and excellent acting across the bard, even from minor characters which always points to the director doing a fine job.

The only change I'd make would be to have Jeff Bridges acting exactly like the Dude the whole time.

chris,

i thought that gwyneth was seriously mis-cast (she can't act worth for the "s" word), and the final battle was boring as heck (it felt like a preview of "the incredible hulk"--"iron man smash!" ). however, as you mentioned, the acting was otherwise rock solid.

after "elf" and "zathura", who would've thought that jon favreau could direct? LOL.

i liked the set up for war machine ("maybe next time, baby." ). (Y)

I heard part of Michael Medved's radio program today, with movie reviews of both IRONMAN and MADE OF HONOR.

3.5 stars (out of 4) for IRONMAN - "Go see this movie!" - he said (like Eddie) that only the final battle dragged somewhat - otherwise he enthusiastically gave it his highest recommendation.

1 star (out of 4) for MADE OF HONOR - "Very bad - terrible" - he said it's a ripoff of several other movies, and specifically mentioned My Best Friend's Wedding as one of the films it mimicked.

If there are 500 film critics in the world, Medved is the 501st best. Why the fuck would you listen to a word the man has to say?

He happens to be correct in this case though?

Wow, that's weird coming from you, Chris! I mean, I know you're more of the art-house movie type, so I would have never expected you to like Iron Man. Just from your comments, now I have to go see it!
