Well here it goes. I don't feel like explaining myself again, so I will re-post my previous post from the identical thread going on in the forum. Sorry tony here it is again for you.
Wow, two identical threads, with the same bantering again...

I will just say that the XBOX 360 is probably the most powerful gaming machine on the planet. If you to actually study it's technolgy you will find that it excells in areas that the PS3. On paper, the PS3 is more powerful. In reality, it’s quite inferior to the 360. Without boring everyone here with the details, the triple core CPU that the XBOX 360 has are currently easier to take advantage of than the SPU’s on the PS3. If Sony actually spend billions on R&D they probably could map the potential of the SPU, but is it worth it? The GPU is more powerful. It has more powerful fillrate, and far more pixel and vertex processing horsepower. It all boils down to memory and the type of memory MS invested into the XBOX. The architecture of pixel and vertex procesing allow the XBOX to do things that the PS3 could only dream of. If you were to run that same vertex shader on the PS3 you would find that the PS3 could not adapt, were the XBOX 360 thrives!!! The 360 also has a clever new way rendering high definition anti aliased back buffers. To accomplish the same effect on PS3 is prohibitively expensive. That would explain Blu-Ray's adaptaion in the console. They are relying on native resolutions of the format to carry out menial tasks.

For most reviewers, the Playstation 3 version shone brighter than the 360 because the 360 version suffered from worse frame rate issues as well as draw distances.

The PS3 is generally agreed to be slightly more powerful (or powerful in different ways than the 360) which tend to explain frame rate issues that occur between cross-platform titles.

Reaggie,
The PS3 is just fine as a game console. And it plays blu-ray...and does it well. The thread is about blu-ray in the xbox anyway, not about which console is better with games now. Like I have stated a million times myself on here....THE TECH. KNOWN AS BLU-RAY IS NEW! IT WILL TAKE TIME TO MASTER!
Why or how can you argue with this? When games were first thrown on DVD did they look as good as they do now? When movies were first thrown on DVD, did they look as good as they do now? Patience is a virtue my friend.

To hell with Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and whoever else makes game consoles. I'm getting an Atari 2600.
Space Invaders here I come!
I'm kidding of course but man some of those Atari games were so simple and yet so much fun.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the obvious reason why adding Blu-Ray would be a mistake for MS. MS has been pushing it's high-def downloads via XBL like crazy and that is their current focus and will be for some time to come. So why on earth would they develop a drive that A) Would require them to pay royalties to Sony B) take away potential sales for them from the XBL marketplace.

Sooner or later they will have to incorperate a Blu-ray drive in their next generation XBOX because of space requirements.

You knwo what I can see MS doing. I can see them roll out a new console with a massive storage drive, and you buy the DVD-9 game in the store, and if you want the expansion module, you download it. That's how they will make their money. Expansion modules on top of the base game, just like they did in the computer game days.
Sorry blade. I wasn't rying to be too rough on the PS3, but like you said it is going to take Sony some time and money to actually master the potential of the console.

I don't think anybody is arguing with the PS3s graphics capabilities
Exactly, PS3 is much weaker than Xbox 360 graphics wise, this much is agreed among programmers.

Tell that to frustrated programmers and they will punch you.

There are half-dozen $20 red-laser drive formats capable of delivering 20 GB per layer to choose from.

Deadmeat,
After the game programmer attempts to kick my ass...I will say to him..."TRY HARDER".
(It's not like you people make your living slinging dirt or anything)
If Sony hadnt been so concerned with bluray and let all of their "exclusives" get away, we would not be talking about this right now.
