So, I make a mention of a BUSINESS report concerning Toshiba and Paramount 2007 financial agreements - you know, FACTS - and yet you ignorantly claim it's FUD...? I think YOU are the one being lame here.

I gave NO commentary - just a link to a financial report of PAST HISTORY, and yet you claim FUD... mvckalel, please don't become a whining chode like posters5 (Eddie) - OK? Because I actually appreciate your comments from time to time. But please avoid the chodes (Eddie, etc).

If there was any doubt by anyone that you've always been a Blu-fanboy hiding behind a "purple" disguise, this thread has erased any doubts LH. WE ALWAYS KNEW that Toshiba paid Paramount and Dreamworks. Shoot, even Dreamworks openly said that the were "very well compensated" when they were waiting to hear from Toshiba about continuing their HD-DVD support after Toshiba threw the towel.

Just the same way Sony paid 20th Century Fox (and possibly WB) to stay with their flawed (imo) blu format. Welcome to corporate America LH.

This thread is irrelevant, what YOU are doing is trying to 'trash' HD DVD with 'news' that they paid Paramount, which, WE ALL assumed happened...we are not that naive, well, not really...

Too bad I don't know that many technical terms as many of you do, or else I wouldn't be that ignorant...yeah right...

Oh, by the way, it would be a good idea if you posted ALL the links of stories where Sony (sorry, the blu-ray group ) paid Fox, Disney, WB, etc...

mvckalel, I'll happily be the first to post a linked story of KNOWN PAYOUTS (not speculation) if you or anyone else can direct me to a reliable (true) source of financial-reported information. If you understand business, companies have to provide quarterly declarations of their income, expenses, etc, and this story is the FIRST that I've seen where we now KNOW FOR SURE that a payout was made from Toshiba to Viacom (Paramount's parent).

So... where is the financial declaration of Sony's rumored "payouts" to those other companies? Has it been done by Sony Japan, or Sony's USA division? Do you have a link to definite financial website info, and NOT just speculation? If not, then it's you mvckalel who is spreading FUD.

Surely, if some Blu-ray hater (like we see here often) really knows the financial report info, it would be posted as news somewhere. But I have yet to find anything definite myself, of a possible Sony payout, above and beyond the normal fees incurred by members of the BRDA and promotional expenses (free discs, discounts on players etc).

And wii-lite... yes, I now own more BDs than HD-DVDs, but have no plans to sell either of my 2 HD-DVD players, nor the 60+ HD-DVD discs I own. Last week, I added Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, and King of California to my collection, having found another great deal for both on eBay's HALF.com website, for less than $10 each. And I'll continue to hunt for bargains. Plus, one of my favorites, Touching the Void is available as an HD-DVD import, and if doesn't arrive on Blu-ray by June/July, I'm going to buy the HD-DVD while it's still available, as I'd hate to see it go out/print, and miss out on seeing it in hi-def.

And I regularly RENT HD-DVDs thru my online Blockbuster TOTAL ACCESS membership (highly recommended).

EDIT - By the way mvckalel, I totally agree with your criticism of Die Hard 4.0, giving McClane some type of 'super hero' status against the intense pain he would have suffered jumping out of that plane onto the freeway - ridiculous (but entertaining). I still enjoyed the film and own the Blu-ray (got it for $15 on sale in March).
