I bought this movie to go with Pitch Black the other day (the last copy at Best Buy) and WOW! The audio was INTENSE. My speakers were probably sore after that soundtrack(DTS ). Is there any other HD DVD that you know of that have intense audio tracks like this? I NEED MORE!

If you just mean loud from all channels, there are plenty of action movies that will do the trick. Start with "Batman Begins" as one of the best. If you mean effective use of the 5.1 channels, then "Letters from Iwo Jima" and "Pan's Labyrinth" would be top choices for best all-around sound.

Yeah I am talking about intense use of all channels. I agree with you about Pan's soundtrack and excellent acting.
With "Riddick" even my Wife (who never notices a difference) was wowed! I need more like that. just looking for some suggestions to buy (HD DVD) before they are sold out around here. HD DVDs are going for around 12 to 15 bucks around here.

Thanks for any suggestions

John,
I find it interesting that you picked two movies that you have to read. They are both excellent, but maybe, just maybe, because you were reading, it opened your ears up a little more?

Anything's possible, but you could also see that in the opposite way: Because I was preoccupied with subtitles, I wasn't paying as close attention to the sound.

No, both "Pan" and "Letters" simply have exceptional soundtracks. "Letters from Iwo Jima," after all, won the 2006 Academy Award for Best Sound Editing, and it shows.

But if it's just a "wow" factor you're after, try "Batman Begins," "Blade Runner," the "Bourne" films, the "Potter" films, "Face/Off," "King Kong," the "Matrix" films, "The Polar Express," "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow," "300," "Transformers," "Twister," and "V for Vendetta."

All set to watch Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick this week...figured it would make a great first double header of the spring season...along with Blade Runner and the 5th Element

Yes, Batman Begins really has a powerful soundtrack and top class soundtrack. Black Hawk Down on both DVD and Blu-ray has a really powerful soundtrack.
