Hmmmm it's too bad because the LG 200 seems to be getting good reviews from customers.
Does the Samsung combo player do the HD audio codecs yet?

IMHO - The Samsung BD-UP5000 is a superior machine...better build...more stable firmware.
Samsung is still showing this on their current production schedule.
I guess a company that initially signed to be Blu will be the final saviour of HD-DVD with thier combo unit
As far as the HD audio codecs go, the HDMI will pass the signal to your capable receiver or outboard decoder. The internal audio seems to decode all of the HD Dolby specifications, at least the ones on the HD Dolby demo disc from CES Vegas. It also seems to be decoding DTS HD Master sound tracks through these analog outputs.

I thought the Samsung only put out 2 channel lossless audio at the moment?
I did a quick search and could not find anything that confirms that Sammy outputs 5.1 or 7.1 of Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD. I know it has the decoders inside the unit but it doesn't output it yet via HDMI, as far as I understand it.

I just read on HDDVD.Com, that Samsung has also decided to stop production of their dual players?

Tim, You got this player right? What are your thoughts?
I've been reading some AVS forum threads and people seem generally happy with this unit after the latest firmware updates.
How's it treating you so far?

As stated in this article. Yes, they will stop production as well.
By late 2008 it will no longer be possible to buy a HD DVD player.

I love mine, I'm happy I picked it up, espcially at half-price. I haven't had a problem playing anything I've put in it -- runs like a charm. the little blue halo buttons on the front crack me up -- pass your finger over them and they make a cute little chime sound.
It has all the adjustment features you sould need, but I don't play with them much as I let my TV handle that weight. PQ and sound have been perfect -- no blips or disc skips, so far (fingers crossed)

Its a shame that they are quitting. I was hoping the BH 300 would be a reality. Well I guess I'll be saving up to buy the BH 200, I hope an update for Divx/xvid is made.
