I think that when SONY dropped Uncharted: Drake's Fortune that was just what I was looking for in a game. Game devs know what makes a successful game is that you really have to draw in the gamer into the game. That's how I felt with UDF. I'm tired of FPS and I don't play them. Super cannon this, Howitzer that, plasma rifle crap gets to be a bit boring like you said. I had GOW II and I loved it and the soundtrack was amazing. Plus different genres are somewhat unique to that system. FPS is what sells on the XBOX, adventure is what SONY consumers like and the only place you can find Mario is on Nintendo.

Halo 3 really did this for me. The cut sequences and capitative score really sucked you into the action with variable gameplay.

I also love racing games that favors realism and real cars. It gives me a chance to get behind the wheel of various Porsche models without robing a bank

However, you are right. Not that many innovative games. However, as with films a small handful of titles arrive each year.

I don't know why games like God Of War and Heavenly Sword or are even relevent in todays markets.

Very simple... the game plays great! Now on that same note: It doesn't last in repeat playability as Halo series, or GTA series. Main reason: The competing factor against another human.

Single player games, no matter how great they are, ARE UNMATCHED IN THE FUN FACTOR, against multiplayer-flavored games, via online madness.

Microsoft understood this formula very early on with Halo 2. Sony's (free online gaming) is now catching up, with developers banging their heads on the PS3's complex architecture.

As for Nintendo... they missed the online gaming boat with Gamecube, but caught the LIONSHARE of the gaming profits with Wii. Unique controllers. FUN FOR EVERYONE. Free online gaming. Best of all: TERRIBLY CHEAPER HARDWARE than the other two competitors... if you find one at it's manufacturer's suggested retail price.
