Just yesterday, we (my brother and I) were able to connect his XBOX 360 to the XBOX Live thing (my gift for his bday) thanks to a few cables purchased at monoprice.com (I would've never imagined that there would be orange, and pink network cables, go figure
).
Anyways, so he has a 'log in' name, or profile, or whatever on his XBOX and I did my own...then I realized that if I wanted to play with my own profile with XBOX Live, I had to pay for an extra subscription (besides the one he has)...UGH!!
Are the PS3 and Wii the same way?

mvckalel, do you not have kids? Seriously, I pay about half a dozen subscriptions for online games. Like the Warcraft thingy, I pay 3 subscriptions for those - for the two kids AND the wife! I don't have one.

I wonder how many Warcraft players that are subscribed. As far as I know, it's everyone.... which is why I had to spring for all the accounts!
I'm in the wrong business. Imagine how much the makers of Warcraft bring in every year. Sheesh!

PS3's online service is free, but I'm told it's not as good as XBOX Live. However, I think this will change as soon as home comes out. In fact, Home is one of the main reasons I'm getting a PS3. Home, GTA IV (I'm waiting to get it on PS3 even though I have a 360), Fight Night Round III (even though I have it on the 360), Little Big Planet and of course, Blu-Ray play back. Oh yeah... and for PS1 and PS2 games as well. I'm going to buy an older one so it's compatible with the older games. It would be nice to have one console that can play three generations of games.

I honestly don't mind paying 50 dollars A YEAR for Xbox Live. It's a great service and worth every penny.

$50 or whatever a year for XBOX live is not bad at all, it just blows major you know what that you have to pay for each individual user in a household.

I suppose I could understand... "We have 3 kids, all of them want Xbox Live... we break down and do it" That would suck... but then I look at it as "It's Christmas, we got our christmas bonus(if applicable) We're gonna get the kids their yearly Xbox Live". Honestly Xbox Live is probably best when received in gift form.

You can sign in as a guest and play. It won't be your personal name but you don't have to pay twice.

I heard a rumor that Nintendo is going to start to charge for online.
So I guess Sony are the good guys after all facing off against the evil MS and Nintendo

Here we are. Another thread that makes me say that "Sony needs to get moving...what in the hell are they waiting for?" Anyway. Xbox live is great. well worth the $50 dollar fee. Gotta pay to play! Yep, that means you too!

You can usually find subscriptions cards online for as low as 30 dollars for a year. Also most games allow a user to sign on guests, I know Halo does.

I agree that $50 or $60 is actually pretty cheap for a year's worth of subscription, but it ain't fair to pay for each individual player, oh well...
By the way, trying to get a Wii at BB is still bad...I called yesterday, told me they had 7 in stock...so there I go, I drive more than 30 miles (yes, I'm that far away) for the BB...and the guy says that they will release the Wiis when Wii Fit is launched on Wednesday...
...what??? I actually didn't wana have any type of arguments so I left...
How much more demand do they want?? I mean, even if I go back on Wed, that doesn't mean I will buy the Wii Fit, it's Mario Kart, then Galaxy...and that's it for now, no more money...any of you play Kart online? Maybe we can challenge each
other when I finally get a Wii...
