For your interest, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" had its Cannes premiere Sunday, and of the 173 reviews posted so far at Rotten Tomatoes, it's getting a 79% favorable rating.

Well, Bladerunner, I'll agree I'd hate to see that happen myself, but I kind of have the feeling Lucas & Spielberg have the franchise under their own lock-and-key and most likely won't let that happen. Then again, we never really know, do we?

I've read all the reviews up there, and i have to say, most of them point out that the "Supernatural" element is "too much" in this one
Apparently the action and stunts are amazing (minus the ridiculous CGI allready visible in the trailer)
From all the information i read about this movie i cannot help but to remember "Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine". I don't know if you played the video game, but it involves russians running against indy to acquire some artifact and "other dimensions".
I Am a huge indy fan. But i am not expecting an amazing movie.

Say what you want about the Star Wars movies but Episode 3 was awesome and redeemed the first two. The only one I didn't care for was Episode 1(not even Darth Maul could save that one). It was a big Gungan cartoon in the end.

The worst SW??? Epissode II...wow, only the last 15 minutes are worth, when the 'Clone Wars' begin...
But come on, Ep.1 had the pod race (which sounds GREAT), and Darth Maul, who got split in half (that was a PG-13 moment)...
EDIT: Once again, I'm just excited to see an Indiana Jones movie on the big screen...gona watch Narnia tonite, Indy next Monday...

I'm sorry but all three Star Wars prequels were bad. They had some good moments, but too much CGI oversaturated the whole thing. Not to mention R2-D2 having all of these cool abilities that could have came in really handy in The Empire Strikes Back, but all of a sudden he becomes Mr. Lazybones.

Let me know how that goes please. Just watched the first one on Blu-ray the other day and thought it was pretty good. The nice transfer helped though.

Just remember that everybody was giddy when The Phantom Menace came out too. "Oh man, it was so awesome!" and then reality set in. Now everybody (critics) who thought it was great, think it sucks. My point? Don't judge Indy 4 by it's newness. I have a pretty good feeling that sometime in the future we will be talking about it in a negative manner....

mvckalel... totally agree with your opinions on the newer SW films (comment above). #2 is terrible (pathetic acting), redeeming itself a little when the 'clone wars' arrives at the end. #1, despite Jar Jar Binks antics, is decent enough (not boring), and features the awesome mid-film race sequence, many unique creatures (as well as Liam Neeson). #3 is probably the best out of the three, due to the plot element, and great ending with Obi Wan fighting Anikan (also Yoda's fight) - the acting though is still not much improved over #2, but it does deliver the goods.
But I still prefer STAR WARS (1977) the best of all, followed by THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

I agree also about ep.2. I soley blame this movie for hating the prequels. ONE great scene. ONE! "Obi-wan and Fetts battle in space"...Slave One gives me chills. The rest is crap.

Agreed, Fett vs. Obi-Wan, greatness...
I hate to say this, but I could've told you so...I've been reading MANY reviews, and MOST of them say what I've been thinking...Shia LeBeouf (is that how you write it?, anyways) is a damn good actor, he stole the show in Transformers, and Disturbia is more entertaining than many movies from 2006 (more like most of the movies)...
It's almost for certain that he will take on as the 'new' Jones, and he has what it takes. He is no Harrison Ford, but heck, he just irradiates such good energy and he just entertains in a way many would love to...
Also, will you see it in digital or film?
I need to know where you all plan, so that I can make my decision...
Oh, and yeah, will come back tomorrow to write about my Prince Caspian experience, thanx!

Just came home from the theater. It opened today in france (may 21st)
The lights went down, the movie started and sure enough, as soon as mr.jones showed up, the theater was shaking with people rooting and clapping.
Fast forward one hour and fifty minutes later, and everyone is silently getting up walking towards the nearest exit thinking "WTF?"
I am not going to spoil anything for you, but i feel the need to express the following:
It is badly written, badly shot and badly "CGI'ed"
I Loved the originals, but this one was a joke.
There are so many moments that jokes and actions fall flat that you start wondering if mr. spielberg ever read his own "approved" screenplay.
I understand that twenty years and countless rip-off's later, its hard to impress with the same palette. But the way that the filmmakers decided to go in order to "change" was to shrink the plot down to it's minimum and create all the digital effects they couldn't in all 3 previous films all together.
They could shot on-location during the 80's. I Don't understand why they can't do it know. It looks horrible, some of the blue-screen material are simply disgusting.

According to IMDb, the filmmakers made quite a bit of the movie on location:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367882/locations
In addition, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, the movie used more stunt performers than almost any action movie in the past twenty years in its attempt to get away from too many pure CGI activities.

Rather harsh and uncalled for, no? He was excellent in "Disturbia" and "The Greatest Game Ever Played." But I suppose you're referring to "Transformers"?

I'm not referring to any specific movie. He sucks in all of them. He should just go back to that Even Stevens crap that he came from on Disney.

Actually, as of this writing there were 155 published reviews posted for "Indy 4" at Rotten Tomatoes, and it was getting an 81% positive rating. That's a remarkably high rating for any movie.

Gizmodo's negative review...
> New INDY's Most Deadly Trap is the Movie Itself - Right there, as the lights went down, waiting for the first notes of the theme song, I was ready to shiver and jump in my seat. I was ready for the ride. And I got it. I got goosebumps too. And then, as I was thinking "this is going to be so amazingly cool," all my hopes were shattered by a script that went downhill after the first 30 minutes. Because simply put: THIS MOVIE SUCKS. - Read More thru the link above (includes spoilers), followed by viewer comments.
