I still cannot understand why so many people buy that piece of crap called the PS2.
Also, why do people buy the Wii like it's an addictive drug. That piece has such a weak processor. Nintendo is soooo laughing all the way to the bank each month. They probably spend next to nothing for production. I have the DS and love it but wow, why does it keep selling like that. People shock me. Maybe they should bring the Atari back out and charge 200 bucks for it. I'm sure people will blindly buy it as well.

One game developer recently compared the Wii to the flu. Someone you know gets it and you play it. You get really excited about it and have to have one. Around that same time they experience all three games worth playing on it and get burnt out on it. You find one and start playing it, while your original friend's machine just collects dust. You invite some new friends over to play it and the cycle repeats.

Besides having the most innovative controller since the analog stick, it has games that are entertaining and fun to play, and it's reliable, (did you hear that Sony and MS???????)...
For once, yes haters, a gaming console that doesn't need to have bloody and violent games such as Halo (XBOX) or GTA (PS3) succeeds, and all you can say, is that the Wii is like the flu? You have some weak arguments...
I'm still trying to get a Wii from BB, and no luck so far...and 700k+ units? That's big, BIG.
Shame on Sony and MS, even when the XBOX is a great gaming console and the PS3, well, a great blu-ray player...
...
Go Nintendo! for giving us the games that we enjoy...
EDIT: Oh, and the fact that the DS is selling more than the PlayStationS and XBOX combined, is soooo funny...

yeah i know sony said there wasnt gonna be any pricecuts this year, but when the biggest gameing franchise comes out, and cant even move an extra 50,000 consoles for ya u got some problems. also sony said this was gonna be the year for ps3, i dont think so, with a recession and everything i dont see anyone dropping 400-500 on a gaming consle that has the weakest game lineup out of the 3 console!

So super Smash Brothers isn't violent?
The Wii is what it is a toy. It sells a lot of consoles but it's replay value isn't nearly as high as a PS3 or 360 over the life of the unit. Both of which have family friendly games Little Big Planet and Viva Pianta.

Because Smash Bros. is THE trademark game, as Halo and GTA...
Come on, just admit it, the Wii is the best option, it's entertaining and enjoyable, and it is the most reliable console.
I know that saying that the PS3 with all its powerful components is inferior than the simple (uh-oh) Wii, is difficult (the same for the 360), but it is true. Even regardless of the price.
Nintendo came back with a great product, and it is paying off. Just like the CG thread, a nice shiny console won't make up for bad games.

The Wii is not the best option to anyone who cares about indepth games. It is techically limited and does not have the library nor capabilites of the other two systems. To say it is shows a lack of understanding about the medium.

the wii has "limitations" in some regards, yes, but in terms of playability, it trumps even a computer in some regards. i'd love to be able to play a first-person shooter PC game with a motion-sensing joystick.

I think the main reason the wii is selling so well is because of the $249 pricetag. I bought one in Nov mainly because its a next gen console and it was the cheapest. I just baught a Xbox 360 and I have to say it is a much better gaming console. I think Microsoft would do well if they dropped there price below the wii like they did in europe. I believe the only reason the PS2 is selling so well is because of the price $129 if they added wireless internet and a motion controller to it I think it would be just as nice as the wii...The xbox 360 would sell like gangbusters if the Pro model was $249 and included Wireless internet.... How do you do it wii???

By the way, remember that the XBOX version of GTA4 has some exclusive downloadable material, unlike the one for PS3 (the PS3 stuff will be downloadable like in six months or so, I think), which would explain why it would sell more...
Yes, both the XBOX 360 and PS3 have a more powerful graphics processor, but the Wii has the most enjoyable and satisfying games...

An opinion held only by non gamers. Satisfying games means more than innovative controls. It also includes depth in the storytelling, high quality online ability, complex problem solving and a lot of other factors. Portal on the 360 was voted game of the year in several publications. It's a short game, with no violence to speak of yet would not have been possible on the Wii. The Wii has the processing power of a last gen system. This is a factor in the graphics, but also a bigger factor in game play. I guess the easiest argument is to look at the attach rate for the systems. Software is not selling on the Wii aside from the ones labeled Mario or Zelda. This is because people who buy games don't buy them for the Wii.

Are you saying that I should sell my Wii and buy the PS3 for the games? Don't think that the droves of people buying the Wii share the same sentiment as you, but the two systems draw two very different gamers and gaming attitudes.

Once again, having a big budget and nice graphics doesn't mean it is good, or overall good (Speed Racer anyone?), same with games.
Nintendo keeps innovating (well helps on it), and the Wii is a step up towards a more interactive gameplay, either you like it or not, and that is not an opinion, is a fact. Don't tell me you'd rather handle a lightsaber with the analog stick than with the Wii remote or nunchuck? Or what about a first person shooter?
Still, Super Mario 64 is more satisfying and entertaining and engaging than 95% of all the XBOX 360 and PS3 games combined together, as well as Mario Kart being the same in its category. Again, I'm not saying that it has the best graphics or the most advanced visually, but the games are good and innovative, and geared towards interactivity...

My friends who have a 360 play just about every night ONLINE. The friends who have Wii just played it a whole bunch when they bought it and then not long after it just became a dust collector. Its replay value is low. The better processor in the 360 gives many more capabillities like Hi Def, strong online gaming(online community with friends or strangers) and Multimedia Center. The Wii with its handful of online games cannot possibly compare to xbox live. You play a Wii game thru and you are basicaly done. You play the single player of game on Xbox and you move onto the endless hours of fun on Live.
It is nice to see family games do well but when the graphics are crap and your next generation console is not really next generation, count me out. Your supposed to make improvements in game systems not just make them unique. I hope Nintendos next system is something incredible not just some cheap motion sensor gaming device (motion sensing is old techonology btw). Back in the day Nintendo had it going on when they brought out the N64. Hopefully those days will return. With the numbers being the way they are they will probably bring out a whopping 1ghz beast which everyone will buy like there's no tomorrow, lmao.

Since when is being unique not an improvement? Tell you what, sit there on your fat, lazy ass eating your oreos while you play your precious PS3 and XBOX. I mean, at least the Wii offers a way for the player to actually be "active" since we do have a problem with obesity and fitness -- sounds like an "improvement" to me!

If the Wii is to be an excersize tool then everyone will be fat bastards. I work out in a gym 4-6 days a week. That or sports is the only way to really get excersize. Go buy a 360! Sooner or later the mushroom people and plants that run around with little Japanese cartoon characters will get old.

mvckalel, I love all races. I mean the strange little cartoon characters that are known as Japanese conceived (they come up with some weird stuff sometimes). I would buy a Wii if its graphics were better. I'm all for fun games that don't have blood and guts. I just cannot see paying 250 for a system with antiquated technology. If anyone out there has a 360 get the Half Life pack if only to play Portal. That game is so amazing. I was blown away how different it was. Especially the surprise you get half way thru (made me laugh).

I don't understand why everyone on the internet must argue about their preferences. There is no right or wrong answer, it's all about what you like. And who's to say that Wii fans aren't real gamers? I've been a hardcore gamer since 1990 when I got an NES for my 6th birthday. I currently have a Wii and a 360 and I love them both equally, does that mean that I am not a real gamer? What exactly is the definition of a real gamer anyway? I always thought it was someone who loves to play video games. I had no idea it was some elitest asshole title...

I asked our son this question. He told me it helps if you wear those baggy pants whose crotch hangs around the knee area, and while gaming wear one of those sweaters with a hood on it regardless of the temperature.

I was told a "real gamer" sleeps with his Nintendo DS, hugs it and cuddles with it at night. Then when he wakes up reaches over to the night table for his XBOX 360 controller or Playstation 3 controller and turns his system on, while the system is booting up they grab some pop and a peanut butter and jam sandwich, put on the wireless headset with built-in microphone and sit in the ceiling harness with pulley system. Then they call in sick to work and start playing their game online while at the same time calling their friends and telling them to get online.
It's not as easy as it sounds.
Oh ya the "Elitests" wear diapers so they don't have to pause the game for washroom breaks.

I guess you guys know which one I like,
lol.
So:
"Wii does not have the'power' of the XBOX or PS3":
Just because it doesn't have the power to produce 720p it doesn't mean the Wii can't produce beautiful games with awesome effects (Zelda, Mario, RE4). Besides, the Wii maight not have the horsepower of XBOX or PS3, but at least the Wii doesn't have either the "red ring of death" of XBOX or the backward compatibility issues of PS3.
"...Satisfying games means more than innovative controls. It also includes depth in the storytelling, high quality online ability, complex problem solving and a lot of other factors...":
So Mario Galaxy, Zelda, RE4, Metroid, Mario Kart Wii, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, RE: Umbrella Chronicles, and many others don't have the qualities you are listing? Granted that most of those games don't have online, but the ones that do (MK Wii, MoH:H2, etc.) have awesome online that rivals with that of Halo and others. Just because it lack voice chat it doesn't mean is not great. Personally when I play a game is to have fun and beat my opponents, if I wanted to chat I'd pick up the phone or text my friends.
"Wii does not have a hard drive nor supports Windows":
Granted, the Wii on board space leave much to be desired, but it is flash and is a hell of a lot faster and reliable than any HDD will be. I think with a simple firmware update Nintendo could enable direct read of the SD card and based on the Wii's needs, with a $10-$15 2 Gig SD card is more than enough room for the Wii and it beats having to buy a $100 HDD attachment. Also, the Wii's OS is so simple to use that my 4 y.o. can use it without a problem.
"Wii does not support BD/SD-DVD playback":
Did I mentioned you can play mp3's or ACC's and video files off the Photo Channel?
"Wii's online is poor":
The 360 has the best online experience hands down, but at least the Wii is free. Besides, for online I just use my laptop or PC. I do still love the Wii's Weather and News channel, I always check them out for a quick look of the news or forecast. The Wii loads faster than any PC so it works perfectly for me. As the Internet channel is not that bad it is decently fast (I use cable and the channels runs as if I had DSL) and the Wii is compatible with USB wireless keyboard so there is no need to use the on-screen keyboard (which is a pain).
"...Yes, both the XBOX 360 and PS3 have a more powerful graphics processor, but the Wii has the most enjoyable and satisfying games... An opinion held only by non gamers":
"Non-gamers"???? I have over 25 Wii games, 15 PC games, 23 DS games, 70 N64 games, 35 Dreamcast games, 65 GCN games, and like 40 NES/SNES/original GB games combined I have my own video game website (www.wii-lite.com) which even though is mainly geared for Wii/DS, we cover all consoles without prejudice. So if I'm not a "gamer" then I don't what the heck I am.

To qualify as a true "gamer" you still need to live with your parents, and preferably play games ALL DAY in their basement.

That chart might have been true a couple years back, but PC gaming has been on the decline for a while now. Between the availabilty of titles sooner, and the ability to use your theater room for gaming most people I associate with have left PC gaming for a next gen console. Add to that the cost of a gaming PC capable of running current and future games , and software developers leaving the PC world because of Piracy. The future of PC gaming looks more like a niche market.

Very true, many titles are now "console only" or at least released first on that platform. Plus, popping in a disc and know that your hardware is 100% compatible with the game is a big plus.

Agreed with the chart...
I actually liked your post, until I realized your name was "wii-lite"
...then it all went downhill....is like those guys with "blu" or "red" names talking good about blu-ray or HD DVD
...either way, I'm still right...and not 3:10 to Yuma right, I'm right...

Ok - so part of the chart is outdated.
Are you listening Blu-ray consortium?

I considered into buying an XBOX 360 but I just can't afford to start all over with a new console and buy games and accessories for two consoles, so I'm just concentrating on the Wii since I've had it since launch. BTW, since you read my post, I'm sure you realized that I mentioned that we "cover ALL consoles without prejudice" in my site, so just because I prefer Nintendo it doesn't mean I'm a "fanboy".

"Same old"?? Let's see:
- Standardized the analog stick on a console (N64): Now industry standard
- First full 3D environments platformer (Super Mario 64): Now industry standard
- First game with a free camera controlled by the player (SM64): Now commonly used
- Standardized built-in 4 controller ports (N64): Now industry standard
- First console with rumble feedback (N64): Now industry standard
- First console with motion controls (Wii): Copied in the last minute by Sony
- First console company come out with reliable wireless controllers (GCN): Now industry standard
and I'm sure there are plenty more "firsts" or standardizations by Nintendo of which I'm not aware. If you want to call something a gimmick how about Sony adding Blu-ray to the PS3, not THAT's a gimmick. I wonder out of all the PS3 games how many are actually BD media.

In your opinion. I would argue that this technology incorporated into a game console is also a "first", soon to be eventually copied in future consoles by Nintendo and Microsoft. It offers higher capacity and bitrate media to contain future games that will someday take advantage of it. And for those who use it to play Blu-ray movies, it certainly isn't a gimmick to them.

Well, BD is a "first soon to be copied" only due to circumstance and not due to innovation. If HD-DVD had won then MS would not be in need of "copying" BD. Also if MS releases a BD drive for the XBOX 360 it'll only be for movie playback purpose and not for game media purpose and I doubt MS would release a BD drive anytime soon. I think is already established that if MS releases a Blu-drive it won't be until their next console so that debunks your "soon to be copied" theory.
As for Nintendo
Nintendo knows better than to be in business again with Sony. Should I remind all of you Sony/PS fanboys that the only reason your blind "fanboyism" even exists today is thanks to Nintendo. Nintendo and Sony got in business to come out with an optical drive for the SNES but when Sony brought the contract to the table Nintendo read the fine print and saw that Sony was trying to keep most of the revenues from the attachment and the medium sold. So Nintendo pulled out leaving Sony with the kits and the basis to create what's know today as the PlayStation. This actually helped Sony who at the time was at the verge (just as recently, again) of Chapter 11.
Is time for you Sony/PS/BD fanboys to burst out of your bubble and see the reality that just because BD won it doesn't mean that the masses and the industry in general are going to rush to adopt that incomplete format. As a matter of fact, with the success of Wii, is more likely that Sony will be the one copying Nintendo's direction and perhaps adding more real interactivity to their future games and consoles.

I have a 360 and a psp but i played the wii over the weekend on that boxing game that comes with it and that was fun. But even better felt like a pretty good work out. If I had kids I would want them to play that instead of just sitting. I am considering getting a wii now to get some exersise. But then again they are so hard to find in a store

I hate to be the annoying old timer here but Atari was first. Doesn't anybody remember space inavders? Atari was the first to introduce the Game Cartridge way before Nintendo or Sega even existed. All Nintendo did was improve on what technology was already available, Sega followed shrotly after and actually had better graphics at the time. If anything, you could say Nintendo was the first to stimulate the market and took off leaps and bounds ahead of its competition, but they were not the first nor did they invent the industry -- however, they did refine it.

PC Gaming vs Game Consoles:
This is really a matter of personal choice. You can go find all the graphs you want and note how the PC gaming is declining, but what's really declining are the games that are better suited for game consoles. PC gaming has gone the route of multiplayer, role playing games (World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Age of Conan, etc.) and many have been very successful. I really don't see it as a decline, but more as an overall shift in the PC gaming market. Progress takes time.
For me, I prefer the PC gaming because the fun and adventure can go on for years. PC MMO games constantly have updates, and addition patches to keep things interesting. What makes them far more rewarding for entertainment is that they really have no end. Sure, you can level your guy up to the max, but it doesn't mean the game is over, as there is always more adventures to play solo or with other players. Now, don't get me wrong, I love game consoles and have wasted many hours on them, but it gets boring when you beat a game in couple weeks and have to move onto the next thing available. Console games have endings and overall there's always somthing you have to beat to become the ultimate champion. Once you beat the game, the fun is gone and you begin to find most games are very routine. So for me, the PC gaming experience is a lot more challenging to the senses and much more rewarding in entertianment value.
The biggest problem with PC gaming is the overall expense. I mean, if you want a good gaming machine, it's about the expense of buying 4 to 6 PS3s (depending on what you want to spend). However, on the plus side, you do wind up with a kick-ass machine that can multi-task some very heavy resource hog applications without a problem. Plus, many of them are equiped with monster motherboards that can handle the next gen upgrades. Therefore, you have a pretty good investment that will last a lot longer then your standard office PC. Other issues may be hidden costs, such as high-speed connection and all the popular recent MMO games are about $15 a month for each game -- so choose the game that interests you the most. However, and the way I see it, I was spending more than that just tradding in games for new ones every month or two. And high-speed, I already have it as I need it for the internet, so really not a hidden cost.

Relax dude, I never said anything negative against your Wii. We even bought our daughter one last year, and she loves it. But the Wii is useless for me because it does not support Blu-ray playback, nor even serve as a media center, and it also does not have 1080p output to upconvert standard DVDs.
But I don't play console games. I'm more like Tim who enjoys an occasional PC game. Therefore the innovations in the PS3 are of more value to ME, and the innovations in the Wii offer more value to YOU!
So you can stop being insulting now. Sheesh!

Im talking about the state of gaming today all of the innovative stuff came from nintendo not atari! everything nintendo has came out with over the years has been copyed example ... rumble, 3d, wireless controller, motion controll, all pretty much the industry standard. atari wasnt the first gaming console either, In 1972, the first commercial video game console that could be played in the home, the Odyssey was released by Magnavox and designed by Ralph Baer.(i had to look it up lol)

Movies were already made since the early 1900s!!!
The only thing directors like Lucas, Spielberg, Coppola, Cameron...etc... did were improve on them!!!
Dude, who cares for a game in 1080p? I mean, really, if you suck or are good at a game, it will be the same in 480i or 1080p...
Great, no, EXCELLENT post wii-lite...Nintendo is back with a great product, and all the other console fanboys can say is that the Wii is lame, or not enough, with bad graphics, not good games...COME ON!! Do you fanboys have a GOOD argument????? Still waiting!!!

No need to make an argument when you did for us. You know Ford made on of the worlds first autos and the assembly line was really innovative. Does that have anything to do with who makes the best auto in 2008? For you the Wii might be great, for me not so much. I require a strong online element like xbox live,.I have a HDTV and demand a console that can take advantage of my theater system. I also desire quality games that don't have mario or zelda in the title, no offense just not my thing. I'm sure you think the Wii is great and thats fine, but don't all the sudden pretend that there isn't such a thing a technical advancements outside of the ones nintendo has brought to the table. Xbox Live, PS3 Home, GTA4, Gears of War, Metal Gear, Grand Trusimo, Forza 2, Oblivion, Halo 3, Heck even Portal could not have been done on a Wii.

Why do people have to justify to others about things they bought. I have a SNES emulator on my PC along with a Genesis emulator and enjoy many old school games. I like the PS3 because honestly I like new things and what they offer. Personally there is but so much Mario that I can take. And as far as compatability issues (someone really had to dig for that one) with the PS3 there are none to my knowledge because every PS1 and PS2 game that I've ever played on my PS3 works fine. It's either you buy a unit with BC or not. Wii-lite you made some good points for you reasons behind liking the wii but for me they are not selling points for me to buy one, but if it can help with my arthritis than.........

This is my first post and thought I would throw my 2cents into it.
I have both the Wii and a PS3. The PS3 does get more use however, partly because of movies but I just have more games on it. I DO enjoy the Wii ALOT. I love when I hear someone talk shit that the Wii is not considered "next-gen" and that its games suck. I tell them"So, your machine(PS3 or 360) is getting its ass handed to them by an inferior product. That they are making ALOT of money."
We all know that the profit is in software, not hardware. Yet the Wii IS making money off hardware and software. It is a different type of gaming but it is still gaming if you ask me.
I do wish the Wii had better graphics, but they are not that bad at all. Dying in 1080P IS WAY better than dying in 480i. Anyone who compares them to be equall is wrong, Try putting the settings on a PS3 game to 480i and there is NO WAY you could say it is equall to 1080P.
I love my PS3 and playing online(for free) and having a good time with my freinds. I have played COD4 on both consoles(360) and they look the same to me, and I would consider myself a PS3 fanboy but I also try to be fair in my decsions.I just HATE the controller. I feel that if MS had put in an HDDVD drive in the 360, then it would of been a bloodier format war and the PS3 MAY have lost.
I grew up with Atari to and yes they should be considered the inovators but the NES is what EVERYBODY had, imagine online gaming back ten with your freinds, that would have been really cool.
My point is the Wii is a great machine, the PS3 is a great machine and the 360, gulp a great machine. However i REALLY do not care for the 360 in any way.

I honestly not trying to "sell" the Wii to anyone or trying to be aggressive by "attacking" Sony fanboys, I just get flamed when I hear people attacking a product I like because is having phenomenal sales and on the other hand, those same people rub in our faces when their product is doing great too. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, so I become defensive the same way they do.
As for online I am one of the first to admit that the Nintendo's online strategy can be below par but in their defense I think is a byproduct of today's society. Nintendo's main crowd are young kids so I'm sure they are afraid that a sick pedophile might try to get to children via their online system. BTW, technically, XBOX Live is not really a "first" the first console to offer online was the Dreamcast (which I had to sell against my will
). The Dreamcast was ahead of its time and personally its the best console of all time.
Some people day they don't play Nintendo because they are "mature" and the games are childish. Well I can tell you that the Wii (from a parent's perspective) can be more "mature" then PS3 and XBOX360. Why? I'll explain my reasoning. Take a game like GTA, sure you go around committing GTA's, murder, battery, and others shoot, GTA 3 even had hidden x-rated content hidden in it. However, the mechanics of the game are by playing with a controller pressing buttons sitting down. Now take a game like The Godfather: Blackhand Edition for Wii. In case any of you haven't played this game you commit all the offenses a mobster would commit, racketeering, murder, assault, GTA, etc but what I think it makes this game more "mature" than GTA is the mechanics. In Godfather: BE you simulate the moves with the Wiimote, you actually move the hands simulating strangulation, you actually "grab" a person and simulate the movements of smashing their head against a counter or the wall, you also "swing a bat" breaking people's head open so as a parent would be even more concern of my kids actually "acting out" the beating and murder of a person versus just sitting on the couch pressing button. Not that I would allow my kids to play either instance.
I personally think Wii is better overall because Nintendo has done two things that, as a parent, I think are very important:
1.- Nintendo has finally made my kids, and myself, get off the couch and get some exercise while playing video games. Sitting for long periods of time is so bad for our backs (I tell you by experience, I have back problems) that I think is great that finally some company is thinking on the consumer's well being instead of just making sales for the sake of the company.
2.- Nintendo has brought families together again. Is not like in my family we don't do stuff together, but when at home, I'm sure is the same can be said about most families, everyone does their own thing. Kids playing in their room/video games, wife watching TV, me playing video games or other. With the Wii we are almost interacting with each other most of the time. My wife is not much of a gamer but ever since I downloaded Dr. Mario (yeah, you can download games too like in XBOX Arcade), I'm the one telling her to stop playing, she won't leave me alone, lol. All of us workout together on Wii Fit, thing we can't do at the gym because my kids are too young. My wife and I actually throw "Wii Parties" where our friends come a play Wii with us let me tell you, some of those crazy games like Wario Ware and Wii Play can be so easily converted into "mature" games, I don't need an M label to tell me that, only my imagination and be ingenious. You can't do most of these stuff (if any) with XBOX or PS3. And many more things.
So again, IMO, for young people and gamers with individualistic needs XBOX and PS3 are great products of great quality that satisfy their needs. For gamers and families with "collective" needs, I think Wii is not only a great product but the best product of its type today. And in this case the masses and the industry agree too, after all, correct me if I'm wrong but the Wii has being the best selling console almost every (if not every) month since its launch 18 months ago. I think that says a lot by itself, no argument needed.

As I said, I never attacked your "product". Nor did anyone flame you. But saying Blu-ray capability is a "gimmick" for the PS3 is your opinion, however some of us bought the PS3 especially for this particular technology, therefore it is not a gimmick to us. And I'm sure people like myself have helped move their consoles, even though we don't play any stupid console games. Understand already?
But to you, anyone who buys the PS3 for Blu-ray playback and defends it's capability for Blu-ray playback is an instant "Sony fanboy". Gosh, you really need help IMO.

Skyhawk, you "forgot" to quote the rest of my sentence. I'm flamed by the double standard of those people. BTW, I never mentioned your name in this thread nor called you a Sony "fanboy", I didn't know until now that you own a PS3 so if the shoe fits, wear it! lol. You sound like the kid who tells his mom he got hit by his brother but doesn't tell her that he hit him first. lol.
BTW, you are right, incorporating the BD drive on the PS3 was not a gimmick, the real gimmick was making the PS3 Blu-ray player a video game machine. It is a fact that Sony neglected the PS3 as a video machine this last year because they were too busy fighting the HD format war. I've read so many post from PS3 owners complaining that the good games were coming out sporadically, and a lot of PS3 owners bought it as a "cheap BD that also played games". Even you claimed that you don't play with your Wii (no pun intended) because it doesn't support BD or DVD. Such comment could be interpreted as if the Wii had BD you would get more use out of it than your PS3.
BTW, why you keep on "beating the dead 'gimmick' horse"? I didn't mentioned it again until now.

Interpret this:
If the Wii had Blu-ray playback capabilities equal to the PS3, I wouldn't even own a PS3, but instead a Wii.

Skyhawk, you "forgot" to quote the rest of my sentence. I'm flamed by the double standard of those people. BTW, I never mentioned your name in this thread nor called you a Sony "fanboy", I didn't know until now that you own a PS3 so if the shoe fits, wear it! lol. You sound like the kid who tells his mom he got hit by his brother but doesn't tell her that he hit him first. lol.
Wii lite, I laughed so freaken hard at this. Too Funny!

You are totally right! Here's some ads that were on-line.
This one shouldn't have never been posted, if It was a gaming console only.

Reaggie and wii-lite, it's called targeting different markets (as you know). If you target gamers in certain ad spaces and target those interested in Blu-ray in different ad approaches and different ad spaces (and of course some people are both gamers and interested in HD), then you're maximizing your sales potential. Some people are only buying the PS3 for Blu-ray playback, so of course it makes sense to target those consumers differently than the gamers. I've seen lots of ads for the PS3 - some stress the gaming and some stress the AV aspects. Neither means that the other is being neglected.
