Fan of the series and liked the mood of the first movie.

Can they pull it off again? The trailer is now available in HD:

The trailer has that mystery feel to it, and thats a good thing. To many movies reveal all the good parts of the movie when they release their trailers. Carter already said that there are no aliens in this movie, but it will appeal to the die hard fans like myself. In the same breath, it will also appeal to a new generation which will build on a new franchise. I think it will do well, it won't have legs to carry it through the summer, but I think it will do well.

The first movie was good so I have no doubt they will have another thrilling plot in this new chapter.

Not so good review for this movie...

Little to believe in with new `X-Files' movie

By CHRISTY LEMIRE – 2 hours ago

The makers of the new "X-Files" movie have done themselves a disservice in coming up with the elongated title, "The X-Files: I Want to Believe." Really, it just invites a whole bunch of bad jokes which, unfortunately, are justified.

It's easy to imagine how they might go: I want to believe another "X-Files" movie is necessary, 10 years after the first one came out and six years after the pioneering sci-fi series went off the air. I want to believe it's worth my time and money, even if I wasn't a fervent devotee of the TV show. And I want to believe that Mulder and Scully still have the same chemistry they once did — a big reason the series developed a cult fan base.

yeah, ratings not doing too well on RT (31% so far). Looks like a rental, if even that.

No they didn't pull it off. I saw this last night at midnight and left pissed off at how bad it was. It has very little to do with the X-files, or good movie making in general. David Decovney or however you spell it was on Opie and Anthony today and I remember him saying to go see the movie but I don't think he said it was good. Needless to say I hated this movie.

Oh one other thing. I think it is clear this was just done for the money. I have lost all respect for Chris Carter.

No I did not go to the midnight showing last night. It may be my age, but those showings usually attract the brain dead kids that all they wanna do is text message everyone from their BFF to their Pet Hamster. But never the less, I will go tonight. Now we all knew going into this, that this had nothing to do with the original story line for the show, which meant no aliens. Yes the story was being kept TOP Secret, but when they released the special DVD 2 weeks ago, all 8 episodes had to do with Monsters. So going into this movie, I had a funny feeling that the plot had something to do with a monster in nature. Now to say that the movie is good without me seeing it, well that is just stupid on my part so I won't say anything about the movie until I see it. But my main comment on this rant, is the people who SAY they are true fans, but they are smashing it for not being true to the show. The show was more than aliens, it was monsters, serial killers , shape shifters , possessions , mutants , you name it The X Files had it. Remember it was commented by Carter many times, that The Night Stalker was his inspiration for the show. Hell I can even remember when they moved the shows production to the ABC studios in LA. There was talk that a cross over show may take place with The X Files and NYPD Blue. Even though that did not happen, and it would have been awesome, it just proves that The X Files was more than just little green men from outer space. I just hope in my view that the movie is up to par.

Fine let me be more clear. The movie was boring and uninteresting. Even though it wasn't really like the show, it still relates to some episodes, it still had the responsibility to be good and entertain. It didn't do that. There was nothing that keeps you on the edge of the seat nothing. As as far as attracting the kids. There were only 4 other people there other than me and my wife, all of which were older than we were. The typical one liners that come out of Moulder's mouth were funny, but couldn't save a movie.

To sum up the x-files always made you think about the subject and wonder what if, well this movie didn't make me care

yeah, the demo for "x-files" is skewing older. because so many storylines became serialized (i.e. you had to watch many episodes in a row to "get" it), younger viewers simply didn't want to keep up with the show. thus, the franchise is relying heavily on people older than 30 to feed the bottom line, but older viewers tend to avoid opening weekends. look for a soft bow.
