There you have it, I'm among the numerous who saw it at midnight, and the movie had it all. And how does it stack up? Let's just say somewhat below Last Crusade, and way above Temple of Doom. Trust me here too... all you have seen in the previews does not lick up to what you see for the final product.

falcon, all i can say is, real indiana jones fans will leave satisfied. those crappy reviews slamming it were written by fellas that do not have much of an open mind. indiana jones has set the bar, and you don't want too much new stuff or it will not feel the same.

There are others online also but it's a mixed bag I guess. Some people may be expecting too much from this film or taking it way too seriously.

I am not going to spoil anything for you, but i feel the need to express the following:
It is badly written, badly shot and badly "CGI'ed"
I Loved the originals, but this one was a joke.
There are so many moments that jokes and actions fall flat that you start wondering if mr. spielberg ever read his own "approved" screenplay.
I understand that twenty years and countless rip-off's later, its hard to impress with the same palette. But the way that the filmmakers decided to go in order to "change" was to shrink the plot down to it's minimum and create all the digital effects they couldn't in all 3 previous films all together.
They could shot on-location during the 80's. I Don't understand why they can't do it know. It looks horrible, some of the blue-screen material are simply disgusting.

I'm gonna see it tomorrow. ARGH!!! I cannot wait to see it. I'll add my review tomorrow afternoon. Harrison Ford is awesome so it would be hard to destroy this movie if they keep to the character that has been set up, as you say.

Below Last Crusade? That would make it pretty bad.

The CGI was not over the top like it was in the SW prequels (and let's face it there, CGI was okay in that regard, at least for me). The way I saw it was that given this movie was made with todays technologies, they kept the CGI where it was needed... yes, there were effects shots aplenty, but they to me did not take over the movie too much - in fact, they integrated in nicely. Now here's how i am looking at critics on their "chastising" reviews... I think they went in feeling picky about what they wanted to see, but me, I went in wanting to see an Indiana Jones movie. And here's my thing - Indiana Jones set its own bar, and we can't have new all the time. We want to go in, and enjoy the thrill we have known in the other three... that's what Spielberg had in mind. He said he wanted to make this movie for the fans, and as a fan, I think he succeeded ever so greatly. Furthermore, much of the continuity was in line with everything else that's me being general about it. I just want to say, if you are going to see Indiana Jones as an Indy movie, you will be happy. If you are going expecting "Lawrence of Arabia," wrong movie.
Yeah, I just want to go out and say that there are indeed over the top pieces, but I think that's what makes it an Indiana Jones movie for sure. One last thing, the very end I thought was SWEET. But the denoument I thought was insightful to say the least... many are saying it's weak, but I think the ending had its own poignancy to it.
Okay, let me sum it up... MOVIE IS GREAT. There are thrills-a-plenty, laughs around any corner (my fav line is "grab the rope" - trust me, it's very funny when you see it), and the story was good because it was different. I think that's what made it a great movie because of the direction the characters went... plus, Cate Blanchett pulls off a super-duper villain (like R & B's Natasha, only more badass), and to me, I couldn't have been more satisfied. There you have it guys, go and see it as an Indy movie. You will feel like he did after that certain ride at the opening.
One last thing... It's below Last Crusade in a good way, because I am ranking it way way way above Temple of Doom. I'd say it fits next to Last Crusade most comfortably.
