John, I really wondered about 8 years ago if the Canadian dollar would ever get beyond 65 cents compared to the American dollar. My advantage at the time was that we were living in the USA in Forida. So we paid off all our Canadian debts at the time (including a mortgage) with nearly a 40% advantage at that time! God Bless America!

We just lucked out moving back to Canada a bit later, since the dollar difference started to equalize not long after we arrived again. Now eBay and Amazon.com purchases are no-brainers for Canadians. In many ways, our standard of living (because we import nearly every consumer good) has risen by nearly 40% in just a few years. There is an advantage to not being tied to any one particular country!
