I just got back from our local Rogers Video, and it's so small a store that the HD DVDs that were supposedly going to go on sale were actually sent to one of the many bigger stores in this city. Oh well.

But what I found interesting, was that they got a whole bunch of new titles in, and now they have them overlapping on the 3 wall shelf units. The third unit was only started a couple week ago. Also interesting was that there were 4 other people browsing the titles when I walked in. I actually had to say "excuse me"!

About 30 titles were out rented that I could count - including some terrible movies like "I know who killed me".

They're also now ordering 5+ multiples at a time of new releases, such as Rambo and National Treasure 2. When I later asked the manager why they don't start the 4th shelf unit, he said they were still waiting word from head office on what to do because they have to now move their foreign releases somewhere else and get another shelf unit. He also said that the Blu-ray titles were renting incredibly well, and predicted that as the Blu-ray section gets bigger, the standard DVD section will get smaller in this (admittedly) small store, and will eventually overtake it over the next couple years.

It's nice to see many of my neighbors also prefer high definition.

Hey Tim... I've 'shilled' Netflix too, but I guess you don't care to mention that huh?

Don't worry, we know of yours (and Jason, Chris, etc) dislike of Blockbuster. To each his own - and I like their TOTAL ACCESS program very much.

No Tim (^above), here's a brief review...

Blockbuster TOTAL ACCESS
-Online availability AND local in-store availability
... (and FREE BONUS rentals)

Netflix LIMITED ACCESS
-Online availability only
... (and NO free bonus rentals)

One is TOTAL (Blockbuster)
...and the other is LIMITED (Netflix)

Understand now?

... Your welcome!
