From over $100 million nationwide ($300 million worldwide) last week, down to $46 million in North America this week. I say that's a COLOSSAL PLUNDER in one of the STUPIDEST Indy movies ever released!
Suuuure, I bought that MAN-EATING ANTS, ALIENS, AREA 51, LOST CITY OF GOLD, and Shia Lebouf doing some FANCY SWORDFIGHTS & imitating TARZAN... NOT!

Iron Man rocks!

Yeah, Sex-starved 50-something HO's took over the box office receipts, this week.

bear a few things in mind:

1) in the age of mega-openings (3,000+ theatres), drop-offs in the 50% to 60% range are to be expected since everyone saw the movie during opening weekend already. "indiana jones 4" is in that range.

2) as long as a movie makes more money on saturday than it does on friday, it's on solid footing. that's because most people are still working for most of friday, while saturday is a full day of movie receipts. that was not the case for "sex and the city", which took a huge hit going from friday to saturday.

Agreed with the mega opening thing. It's very rare these days for a summer movie to make it's money slowly over the months. Almost all big openings are followed by big drops of 50%. Only when you get in the 70% range like the first Hulk movie is it considered a bomb.

I see Tyler is still having problems with "SPOILER" alerts.

I bet you didn't buy either the Ark of the Covenant, a heart-ripping bald dude looking for fire-catching magical stones, nor a 1,500 year old dude whom survived in a cave by drinking water from a rusted cup.

I take it for you a dude who has shrapnel stuck in his chest and uses a magnet to keep them from going is his heart and also uses a red armor suit and can fly much faster than an F-22 Raptor Jet is far more believable, right? LMAO!!

Is like Roger Ebert said in his A- review of the fouth Indy film: "I can say that if you liked the other Indiana Jones movies, you will like this one, and that if you did not, there is no talking to you." I guess he was talking about people just like you.

Well I found Tony Stark making a compact Arc Generator with a pretty much infinite power supply for his heart out of stuff scavenged from the black market extremely realistic. Even though previously they smallest one they had ever made was the size of a small house.

Why the hate, Tyler???

Did you actually see which movie took first place? It's Sex and the City, from the VERY successful HBO show, you do know that, right???

Oh, and yeah, that heart/generator thing, soooooooo believable

And again, enough with the Transformers hate, it won MTV's Best Movie Award...and yeah, it might not be the 'Academy Awards', but, it means it kicked ass...

And like the kid from the MTV sketch with the Thunder movie said..."until Dark Knight"...

Your point being...

It's not so much as 'believable', but believing that the script works... makes the movie believable. That's why Iron Man rocks! It's impossible, but the script is TIGHT!

Again... it's MTV Awards. Might as well hand Michael Bay a 'Best Director' Plaque from OK! Magazine.

The only movie that makes sense. Just don't kill Joker, dammit!

The point being women went to see the movie, MANY women went to see the movie, A LOT OF women went to see the movie...and women are the majority, we (men) are the minority... ...

...and believing that the script works, does what to a movie??? And the script being tight??? ...

...say what you want of MTV, but it's still a very important network...oh, and still, Transformers kicked 2007's blockbuster's ass!! ...

...and what do you mean the only movie that makes sense? We still have Wall-e and Hellboy to root for...oh, and that X-Files movie...

Still, why the hate???

Indy Is Year's Champ

1 July 2008 10:29 AM, PDT

Having crossed the $400-million mark in overseas ticket sales on Friday and the $300-million mark in domestic sales on Sunday, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull now stands as the highest-grossing worldwide release of 2008, Paramount said in a statement on Monday. As of Sunday, the film has grossed $713 million worldwide. Crystal Skull is the second film to earn more than $300 million in North America, joining Iron Man, which has grossed $309 million.

Pretty good sales figures after all but Paramount has been known to fudge numbers a little bit. Still, I think Batman: The Dark Knight will overtake it as highest grossing for the year with all the good reviews it's getting.
