Since I've given up on paying $5 a movie on HD VoD and renting movies from Netflix, I decided to give this movie a try. I love Alien and Aliens, and even Alien 3 was ok. I've often read that some good movies are like roller coaster rides and this one is no exception the only thing is that it's for all the wrong reasons. It goes down hill and just when you thought you hit the bottom it gets worse. By far this is the worst sequel to any movie that I've ever seen and begs FOX to end the Alien movie line all together.

Not since Godzilla have I been so badly entertained. At least Godzilla had a better soundtrack even with DD 5.1. I am so glad I side stepped this land mine with NetFlix and did'nt spend $5 on a VoD rental. I also have the uncut director's edition of Alien on my NetFlix queue maybe this will help take the bad taste of such a badly done movie out of my mouth. No wonder Weaver gave up on doing anymore Alien movies

Tony, I'm confused... did you mean Alien vs Predator 2: Requiem, or...?

If you mean AvsP 2, then I believe most of us will agree that the movie is an insult to movie fans, fans of both the Alien and Predator franchises, and that Fox should be embarrassed to have ever authorizing -that- script to go into production. I think an amateur fan of the series could have easily written something better.

They will probably lose any chance of potential 'large audience' if they go ahead with a 3rd AvsP(!), as most will opt to stay away (or just rent later when released to home video). As a fan of Alien and Predator, I enjoyed all 4 of the Alien films (#3 was a little weak), both Predator films, and the first AvsP film. But AvsP 2 = CRAP ...and I'm hoping Tim Raynor agrees with me on this opinion!

Yea, I'm sorry Hendrix, I was talking about Alien vs Predator 2: Requiem. What a terrible movie.

Alien and Aliens are the best of that series! Some of the best sci-fi films available! Since Alien 3, it has been a suck fest ever since! Alien 3 & Alien 4 = crap (eventhough I like what they did with Ripley's character in Alien 4, it was still no more than a plotless joyride of gross-outs and thrills -- and that last 15-minutes! Damn, did that suck!)

Predator 1 was fun and worth the ride, but Predator 2 was mediocre at best, yet it had a few moments that were pretty cool, but nowhere near the intesity of Predator 1.

AVP & AVP2 = CRAP, CRAP and more CRAP!!!! Not even worth video rental (Total Access or not!)

Understatement of the century. Any movie that manages to misuse Reiko Alyesworth so completely doesn't deserve to be called a movie.

I agree, really bad and way to dark (I have the BD as well)

Small spoilers ahead:
As I have said before, the only good thing was the link made at the very end of the movie. It actually made sense that the company knew something about an Alien life form before hand in Alien. The very reason they send the ship to investigate the planet.

AVP1 was entertaining enough I thought. Havn't seen the second. Alien 3 and Predator 2 were weak.

Best were Predator 1 and Alien(s)

I have AVP: Requiem on bluray and the picture quality was very good but the movie was so lame.
The first AVP wasn't the greatest either but it was better than number 2.

My 6 yr old wanted to watch Hellboy last night and that looked good on bluray also. Quite entertaining also, even the GF was into it :p

I think what made this one worse is the directors, were crowing in the internet about how they were going to do a better job the WS Anderson. Apparently they meant they were going to out do him on crappiness.

The thing I don't get is why anyone puts anymore stock into the franchise. Each film has been progressively worse with each release and I don't see how it's going to get any better. I mean, what are we waiting for, something that will be better than Alien? Something better than Predator? We already know what the monsters are capable of, so there's simply nothing left to tell and everything going forward is just spoonfed garbage. What's the point!?

Tim you're right. With each installment it keeps getting worse. I have Aliens: The Director's cut and for it to be such a long film it was so entertaining.

Well I'm trading AVP: Requiem for Chronicles of Narnia, also on bluray. I didn't really like Narnia but my 6 yr old did so it's a fair trade and it's still a better movie.

In Alien versus Predator 3, E.T. wrestles the King of the Jungle in a steel cage match this Sunday on pay-per-view.

I'm not sure if the AVP movies are any worse than Alien 3 or Alien: Resurrection. I'll have to think about that.

Hey Tim... shoot, HELLBOY is a masterpiece compared to AvsP 2! I don't say Hellboy is "thumbs down", Tim, but about a 5 to 6 (to me), as it just doesn't have the replay value that other comic book movies do.

AvsP 2... it's like they just didn't care with the sets, and surroundings. Look at all of the great production design in the previous Alien and Predator movies, and even AvsP 1. In #2, both the outdoor and indoor settings were nothing special at all! So often you just new the producers were going to have the creatures appear (at a moment's notice) just to showcase another killing (no real build-up).

And what's with the PREDALIEN concept (a mixture of the two into one badass monster). I want Aliens VERSES Predators!

Again, I enjoyed ALL of the others in the series, even those with weaker moments, but Fox has ruined the franchise with the god-awful #2. The only thing cool about the BD was a bonus extra - those historical "files" that let you know every fact about both creatures (and the mission data from the previous missions - included on past franchise releases too I think). Glad I only rented #2... I own the BD of AvsP #1, Predator #1, and truly looking forward to acquiring Predator #2, all 4 in the Alien franchise.
