I just saw a trailer for the new Kevin Costner movie "Swing Vote."

This is quite possibly the dumbest premise I've ever seen for a movie not starring an ex-SNL cast member.

(This is all in the trailer, btw)

He reluctantly votes because his daughter makes him. The machine malfunctions and he's asked to vote again but is too lazy.

When he gets home, he learns that the presidential election is tied and he's the last voter left, so the entire country waits for him to make his decision.

You know I'm not making it up, 'cause how could I?

And Kevin Costner is starring in this?

I just looked it up...damn, it has quite the cast. Kelsey Grammar, Dennis Hopper, Stanley Tucci, Nathan Lane, Judge Reinhold, Mare Winningham, Larry King, Arianna Huffington, Bill Maher, Willie Nelson...looks like a Who's Who of political contributors, too.

Maybe there's something to it...?

Jason, intrigued

LMAO, the true meaning of "democracy" with a two party system tied up about even.

Kodos: "It's a two-party system, you have to vote for one of us!"

I believe I'll vote for a third-party candidate!

Kang: "Go ahead, throw your vote away! HAHAHAHAHA"

-Will (Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.)

I don't know anything about this movie except what you folks just described, but to me the premise sounds like it might be fun for a satirical political farce. The question is what the filmmakers do with the premise. I mean, I'm not sure where all these talented people will be able to take it. We'll see.
