Yesterday, Toshiba demonstrated Super Upconversion enabled laptop to Euro press.
Today, Kaleidescape announced a premium DVD upscaler that it says matches Blu-Ray PQ.

Seems to cost a lot. But yeah I know you don't have to have to buy new movies.

what a load of poop

$14,000 upscaler vs $300-$500 blu-ray

why upscale to 1080p when you can have the real thing

if my a35 upscales to 1080p......then how is toshibas 960p upscaling better?

A35 and Blu-Ray Player Upconversion : Blown-Up 480p
Super Upconversion : Native 960p

but thats no good

cos my tv only has native inputs of 720p and 1080p

so really that 960p is gonna get upscaled/downscaled to 1080p/720p

and where are the native 960p dvds? no one has ever heard of them only dvd's with 480p

so why have a >native< 960p player and no media for it?

and why post a link to a pc with a harddrive that costs $14.000 and then have the stoopidity to say that a $300 to $500 blu-ray is too expensive?

oh and i took my ps3 round my mates last night with a couple of films and some beer.so we put on his sd-dvd of CARS through his tosshy UPSCALER and pioneer plasma(thats the only reason i really went round)...then put the blu-ray of cars on the ps3.and he was SHOCKED.the future is blu not the old tech upscaling.

and why do you only post anti..blu-ray articles?

960p native output upconverted to 1080p.

Super Upconversion creates native 960p frames by fusing nine 480p DVD frames.

This is the same tech used by NASA, CIA, and US military.

Toshiba's Super Upconversion geneates 960p native HD frame out of all existing DVDs via brute force computation.

pointless tech

anyway no one really reads your posts anymore deadmeat

we are all bored with the same answers that dont really tell us anything

hd-dvd is dead.....get over it

upscaling aint as good as native 1080p..which is becoming more affordable every day
super up aint as good aswell

the ammount of brute force required to super up cannot be delivered cheaply unless at a loss to the manufacturer..look what happened to hd.dvd when poshitba reduced prices

but more than that

the movie industry has invested in blu-ray for the next 10 years
and by crimbo this year we should have lots of cheap blu players on the market.all the way from china

china = cheap

Don't forget with these super upconverting players you get NO Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD or DTS HD MA (Master Audio).

Dolby Digital and regular DTS are good enough for some, for some they are not. I guess it all depends on how much you have invested in a surround sound system.
