I didn't actually expect them to have "4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days" on there at all 'cause I thought they'd be going Hollywood only. But having it on your list and not having it at or very close to #1 is just kinda silly, esp. considering some of the drivel they put ahead of it. I wouldn't argue much with #1 either - it'll probably wound up in my Top 10 at year's end.

Picking 20 movies this early in the year means you have to stretch, thus #20 on the list.

Twenty? How about two or three so far?

I'd agree with "Iron Man" and "The Bank Job." I haven't seen "Kung Fu Panda" yet or "WALL-E," and the new "Indy" was only a mild pleasure.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I didn't make the list.

I just saw "The Incredible Hulk" on Sunday. I didn't think there was too much action as some critics were pointing out, and I'm kind of interested to see what Norton was annoyed about the director yanking for the cutting room floor. Personally, I thought it had a nice balance of drama and action, and Tim Roth was awesome. I wasn't expecting much from the trailers, but it really surprised me and was definitely way better than Ang Lee's butchery.

LOL at the first reader response on the bottom of the site.

"What happens in Vegas is the best comedy of the year "

That movie could not have been anymore cliche or predictable, and NOT funny.

John,

I thought I was the pessimist!

Some of the best this year (though I saw many of these last year):

My Winnipeg
4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days
Iron Man
Operation Filmmaker
Encounters at the End of the World
Bigger, Stronger, Faster
Battle for Haditha
Body of War
The Unforeseen
Taxi to the Dark Side
Shine A Light
Irina Palm
Standard Operating Procedure

It's already been a better year for doc than 2007, so that's pretty exciting even if the Errol Morris was a little disappointing.

csjlong, how the heck do you get to watch all these movies? Do you attend film festivals? And can you bring me sometime?

Sure, Skyhawk, come on up to Toronto in September. It's the best festival you'll get in North America.

I don't see nearly as many movies as I want to, but that's because Philadelphia isn't exactly high on the art-house circuit list these days. Of course, I could get my ass up to NYC more often if I really wanted to and see just about anything.

LMAO, Toronto is 5.5 hours down from me But once I reach as far south as Kingston, I know I'm getting close!

This is funny though, because I can drive to Manhattan Island in about 6.5 hours.

But yeah, I'd love to attend the TO film fest. That would be awesome.

Up, down, what the hell, it's the place with the great film festival and even better street vendor food. And way too many Tim Horton's.
