It would make sense on why Wal-mart was giving $100 gift cards with the PS3s...

I recently purchased the Arcade as a donation for a church, and only paid $179.99 for it. Some dealers are already selling the arcade sub $200. It the premium and ultimate that are way overpriced...

Wow, do it now Microsoft. This would put Sony in a pickle as the playstation would be selling for even less than all major brand blu ray which it already is in some cases. Thats not a good way to build the BD market. Good for me though if it forces other brands to sell for less or not sell at all thus I will get my cheaper BD machine.

Also, I'd like a second 360 for the bedroom. Niiiice!

when you buy cheap....you get cheap

ask any scotts man

the reality is of course when buying a 360, is that you are actually entering a lucky draw, and this price cut is just a reduction in entering that lucky draw

wonder how high the percentage of redringofdeath really is...too high for me

If you are referring to the red ring of death, BIG DEAL! They fix that for 3 years free of charge.

This is an interesting article about the imminent price drop. Nintendo really are laughing all the way to the bank.

nice to know that the red ring of death is gonna happen that much, that buyers are REASSURED by m$ ,that their RROD console will be able to be exchanged for maybe another RROD console etc etc for 3 whole yrs instead of one

Actually when websites bring up failure rates of Xbox 360 they include older consoles. I assume most of the RROD failures are from Launch consoles and some in early '07. Since late 2007 all Xbox 360 units have a new motherboard called the Falcon which is more reliable. They had to make the system work in time for Halo 3.

Falcon 360's do not get red ring of death the cases are very isolated if any.

For those wanting a less noisy 360 and a Invincible 360 then wait for the 360's in August with the Jasper motherboard.

The Jasper motherboard is the whole reason for the price drop.

Nice info Rangoonth. I'll wait for the Jasper. I knew about the first updated motherboard but hadn't heard about the second.

PS3 is screwed this year. 360 has better games at a cheaper price.

This definitely will place more pressure on Sony. They're already selling each ps3 at a big loss and since shareholders are pushing for profit another ps3 price drop anytime soon is unrealistic. Sony really needs some exclusive games that will sell systems. Its almost too bad metal gear came out now because they will need some big titles this fall. Little Big Planet and Resistance 2 will probably be good games but I don't think they'll be able to compete sales-wise with more established franchises like Gears of War and Fable. God of War could but it won't be out till next year. And something else to consider is the new blu-ray players coming out later this year. There are alot of ps3s being sold right now because people want a blu-ray player that functions right and is future proof. The ps3 (until the samsung bdp 1500) was the only bd player that fit that criteria. When the new profile players come out this fall that are cheaper than the ps3 will people who just want a good bd player continue seeing the ps3 as an option?
