Toshiba Update Disk

I just received an update disk for my HD-A35, Version 3.0. I don't think I installed the last one, Ver. 2.2 ( ? ) which I think was problematic. Anyone know anything about this one? Steve

I just checked the Toshiba site and it looks like the applicable models are:
Firmware Update Version: 3.0
Applicable Models: HD-A30, HD-A3, HD-D3, HD-A35, HD-A2, HD-A20, and HD-XA2.
and here's the update info:
As part of our commitment to provide world-class service to our customers, Toshiba is supplying this firmware update for use by purchasers of Toshiba HD DVD Player models listed above. This firmware update improves support for 1080p/24Hz OUTPUT and auto mode(for HD-A30 and HD-A35), improves network connectivity for supporting the download of web-enabled network content associated with certain HD DVD discs, and also addresses certain disc playback and HDMI/DVI related issues identified by Toshiba.

version 3.0 screws up 60Hz playback when you're watching an AVC/MPEG-4 source. stay with a lower firmware version.

Great, I just updated my A3 with the 3.0...now what?

It'll probably be ok. I have never yet experienced a playback problem after an upgrade, not even some of the problems that were widely publicized and discussed. Watch a few things and let me know how it turns out.

I wouldn't trust those kiddies. For anything of actual importance, instead head over to AVSForum where at least some actual adults hangout.

I never installed the 3.0 update for my HD-A35 mostly to skepticism on this forum and others. I got a 4.0 disk in the mail yesterday. Back to the original question: What does it do?
