BTW guys, I have been absent for a week. Eddie mentioned that some were banned. What did I miss, and who was banned?

I agree that Deadmeat is rather extreme in his dislike for Blu-ray, but he's allowed to express his opinion like everyone else. I'd prefer to hear the widest range of opinions on a subject, rather than just the positive. Besides, I haven't seen Deadmeat attack anyone, only the other way around.
Agreed on this 100%. Attack the topic. Discredit the statement. You attack the original poster, you get nowhere. Everybody's entitled to a say-so. After further reading subjects posted by this "Deadmeat" member- as 'unpopular' as his subjects may seem... it's nothing new or illegal in forums like this. The problems arise when other members begin to attack the poster directly. And not the posted topic itself.
A troll becomes a troll if you feed it. You don't like it... DON'T REPLY. Let's move on.

Bruce,
You're exactly right: Deadmeat can express his opinion. But as the board rules state: DVDTOWN reserves the right to remove all posts that seem blatantly to promote a studio, electronics firm, format, or other product.
Every last one of his (I presume) posts has been bashing BD in some way, shape or form. A great deal of them contain a link, followed by a quote along with a subject line taken completely out of context or, more importantly, completely false.
Various forum members have tried to use logic with Deadmeat, including myself. It did not work. If he wants to have a conversation about superupconverting, lets have a conversation, not a link, quote and then he leaves. Lets read the actual articles, as well as the others on the same topic and debate the issue. But Deadmeat doesn't want to discuss that way. He purposely posts these threads to piss people off (definition of trolling, per the board rules).
There is no substance to the first post. Only another "BD is bad" link with quotes taken out of context. Hence why I'm not debating the issue: it's useless.
Jason, meh

This is a good example of Deadmeat's slant. Who on this forum has ever said that Blu-ray would be as successful as DVD? If Blu-ray only captured a 50% market share at some point in its life-cycle, it would be considered extremely successful. Sony's President takes a pragmatic approach, and this is news?
And, I agree about not being able to have a reasonable discussion with Deadmeat. I love a good debate, but you don't get that from him. I pointed out the flaws in his comparison of upconverting DVD player sales and Blu-ray player sales (as the % changes used completely different periods and therefore were not comparable), and all he basically would say is "those stats come straight from NPD". If Deadmeat has ever acknowledged any merit to even one counterargument on this forum, I will be SHOCKED.

guys, just a day or two ago, deadmeat started another thread to which no one (other than deadmeat himself) responded. that thread died a very quick death.
again, just don't respond to deadmeat. it's actually very funny seeing him respond to himself.
plus, if he necro-threads, then henning will ban him.

Yeah, I see your points as well. Too bad he just starts sensationalist thread titles based on twisting article comments to mean something else. He's actually pretty good at it, but unfortunately it's all for moot now and perhaps the underlying motive is just to drive some people nuts (which he also seems to be very good at doing).

Dear Lord...
This is why I don't frequent these forums anymore. All these infantile hurt feelings when people don't agree. I'm not gonna stand up for this deadmeat guy, but it sounds like the same kind of crap everyone was spewing in the whole BD/HD-DVD slogging that went on for so long. "Blu-Ray sucks!" "No, HD-DVD sucks!" Nyah, nyah...
Who cares if the guy doesn't like Blu-Ray and skews data to his own means? That's all anyone's been doing here since the whole HD format war began. Blu-Ray won... Yay... Now let's all get ready for HD downloads that will wring asunder both Blu-Ray and DVD.
I remember a time when these forums were filled with thoughtful discussions, and yes, even civil arguments about these crazy things called movies that were in theaters and on DVD. People used to be able to disagree, AND not bash one another. Now it's like every post is taken as a personal attack or chance to espouse their own rightful discontent.
Everybody getting their panties in a wad just perpetuates the cycle and takes this site further and further from what it used to, and I thought was intended to, be.
It's too bad, really, because I miss the thoughtful posts of yore...
sean (...alas, poor civility. i knew him well horatio...)

Eddie you are the man. I was laughing at that myself. It was proof that if you don't respond he'll start talking to himself.
