Nevertheless, you have to admit it's been a great year for super hero films.

to be honest, i think that there are too many superhero films about, its all getting a bit boring, superhero sequels and a bit of lesser known superhero films to fill the gap inbetween the superhero film remake and inevitable will smith summer blockbuster(jeez even hes doing superheroes now). please someone original enter hollywood and do a film about a real hero for once

I actually agree with you Tucker. While I do like superheroes and their movies (if they are good), its getting pretty old now. I didn't like the first Hellboy so I'm going to skip this one out. The Dark Knight will be a superior film.

IMHO comic book movies are becoming as stale as remakes. Can they really make an Antman movie?

yes the batman(loved the tim burtons and batman begins) films have always had a slight edge over the superpower heroes, they tried it again with ironman. but that just didnt cut as far as i was concerned. now i cant wait to compare heath ledgers joker against nicholosons awsome enactment, it will make for an interesting comparison

I was saying the same thing Tucker was a few years ago. Hollywood has taken the easy route of making movies from storys and old TV shows that have been around for ages. There very rarely is anything original or risky coming out of the cash cow these days, and saddly, as long as Hollywood thinks greedy money first and staying true to the art second, it will always be that way. Therefore, all you can really do is hope the films you see are done well.

The superhero genre has never been a favorite of mine but if it is done well, and not all shmaltzy like the old Superman movies, then they can be worthy entertainment. I don't like cornball when it comes to this genre, and so far most of the more recent films in this genre have been taking more of a serious angle, which I like. Hellboy has somewhat of a mixture of elements but it has that dark side that keeps it grounded. I'm happy to see that Hellboy II is picking up good reviews so far and I hope it continues to pick up critical acceptance. Hell, the previews have me sold!

Saying that superhero movies don't have risks is not real...just look at how both Hulks and Superman Returns (all three good, but bad BO performers) did, and how some other movies have failed miserably (Catwoman? Elektra?)...and some underdog superheroes like Hellboy have had good success with good movies...

Not because a character(s) have been established in the comics/graphic novels, that means that the movie is going to perform good on the BO, but it doesn't mean it will be good.

I started this thread because many of us have been waiting for both Dark Knight and Hellboy 2, and as far as it looks, they won't disappoint...

Nah, Catwoman failed miserably because it totally deviated from what Catwoman is supposed to be. It wasn't really Catwoman, it was some other thing. Plus, the bad acting also contributed to its failure.

nah

it was just a crap concept, from beginning to end

every cat i have ever seen, licks its own backside
maybe if halli balli had done the same, the movie may have done better, but i doubt that

batman,,,,,sounds cool
spiderman,,,,,sounds cool
hulk,,,,,sounds cool
etc,etc,etc
ironman sounds cool, but the concept is flawed

you would have been better of going with carbonfibreteflonman as these two materials would be used in place of the rather heavy and restrictive iron suit. plus the carbon fibre is many many times stronger and pliable than iron, infact inkernell could be used aswell, as it is also stronger than iron and can withstand much higher and lower temperatures than iron
catwoman,,,,,sounds stupid
superman,,,,,sounds stupid
wonder woman,,,,,,,,sounds stupid
squirrelman,,,,well that not only sounds stupid, but is stupid

seriously guys
i dont know whats been happening at marvel and dc, must be giving their creative artists mind bending drugs and telling them to invent new superheroes

"WHOA DUDE these purple orbs are great"
"yeah man, imagine if a human had some of the capabilities of a squirrel"
"WHOA DUDE thats far out man,,,,,he'd be like a f*cking squirrelman DUDE...BADASS BADASS"
