I thought this was interesting for those of us that like tech stuff on here. This is for informational purposes only, not to create anti Sony or pro Toshiba jibberish.
We have just received word from Wesley Tech that Toshiba has announced their new line up of Qosmio laptops which will feature the new CELL chips along with the much “anticipated” up-conversion technology. The laptops are dubbed the Qosmio G50 and F40, they will go on sale in mid July at a a unannounced price point. The CELL chip will work by taking load off the video processor as well as the CPU to increase over all performance.
I remember reading here previously that these cell chips would drain the battery right up but that doesn't seem to be the case. I was just about to say that this would be sweet if it had an HDMI output and it looks like it does.
Optical audio output, RGB, USB2.0x 4 (one of them usable for eSATA as well) , Mike, iLink, LAN, HDMI

lol no and he's the reason I put the little disclaimer at the top about anti Sony and pro Toshiba posts.
It's one thing to like the products a certain company makes, be it for quality or whatever, but when you are constantly bashing any product made by it's competitors that's short sighted and manipulative.

4 hrs battery life for the top of the range model, what when its idling? or when that cell processor is running at full tilt? . with a 18inch 1080p screen(cant be cheap), like the guy says in some of the comments following the article, toshiba will be claiming a 7.1 lossles upconverter on mp3 tracks next.
although i do like the concept of the cell processor running alongside mainstream processors and extending their lifespan( & it would help higher the framerates in ARMA)
but as for HD.....nah thnx
i'm staying tru-blu

Well it's not for everyone but I'm a tech lover at heart and I love new technology that makes things better. Anything that can make DVD's look better than is currently possible is a good thing in my opinion. Remember there are some movies on DVD that are not currently on bluray and may not be for many, many years. So why not enjoy them with the best possible picture?
I love 1080P hidef as much as the next guy, at the same time if this technology works as good as they say I'm all for it. Not for me, but I'm sure there are people that will buy it. My DVD collection isn't that big anymore so I won't be buying it unless I find one for super cheap, as in $100 or less. Still I would love to see how good it can make DVD's look.

That Spurs engine also affects the PS3. No wonder theres a new topic, saying it consumes more electricity than a fridge...
