I let some one at work borrow my movie and well they are no longer with us so my movie is gone. So I replaced it with the extended edition. Big mistake. They actually added scenes of a boat going over water with the seats behind the camera so I think it is just stock footage. I am now going to buy the theatrical version because of how bad this one is. Any one else seen the extended one?

Nope, have not scene the extended version. The theatrical version is bad enough and only good for stand-by on cable TV. I thought it was a poorly executed movie and I grow tried of anytime John Travolta plays the bad guy it's just the same bad guy as he's done before -- the guy has no range when it comes to playing the villain. Let's face it, "Punisher" is just another version of "Death Wish" and a poorly done one at that.
Let this be a lesson to you -- never let anyone borrow your movies! EVER!!!
(teasing)
I did notice a "Punisher II" poster in the movie theatre about a week ago . . . God help us!

Well, the "Punisher II" isn't really a sequel. It's kind of like "The Incredible Hulk," in that it's just a remake rather than a continuation since none of the same actors are in it.

Let's hope Punisher 2 is as much an improvement over the first Punisher as the Incredible Hulk is over the Hulk.
I know I'm asking for a lot but hey, someone has to.

I'm probably in the minority, but I really liked the first Punisher. Violent, over the top, action oriented, bloody. The early scene of Frank's family getting killed is a perverse high point for me.
Jason, Punisher > Hulk + X3 + Elektra

Well I really liked the original but this extended cut is just obviously just made to take your money again not provide any thing more.
But the box the new one comes in is kinda cool

It seems like Hollywood has been afraid to push the Punisher movies far enough. The Punisher is not a good guy, he is a bad guy but just happens to only kill other bad guys.
If they stayed true to the comic it would make a very interesting flick.

Jason I also thought this was a interesting take on Frank Castle's origins. They literally left him with no one to turn to. His entire family was wiped out instead of just his wife and child, it made him even more hopeless and unredeemable.

Haven't watched, but have tried to buy it every time it's for $5 on BB...
So, Punisher II is a remake of the Punisher of just a few years ago?? What is up with studios not doing other superheroes, or what I want, supervillains...ugh...
To be fair, Hulk is better than Incredible Hulk, and X3 is just one of the simplest popcorn movies that you just enjoy because you like the characters, but end up saying, "what just happened here?"...

I actually liked the extended cut. You get find out how Travolta's men found where The Punisher was. Plus he forces the rat(a friend of his) into killing himself.

Now Tim, to be a true Tie In, there had to be a new Punisher release this week. Clearly, there wasn't because you would have read about it.

The new one is coming out in Dec this year. You can check out the trailer http://www.punisherthemovie.com/.
I'm sure you all know this but the original Punisher movie stared Dolph Lundgren in 1989. It was a bit cheesy but I enjoyed watching it on a lazy afternoon when nothing else was on. Here's the trailer for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umYvv7K4Z_I . The dialogue is a little behind on that YouTube video...
