Hi all,
I could not resist so I ordered the new iPhone 3G today to replace my old iPhone.
So, is there other iPhone users in the audience? Anyone got their hands on the new version yet? Do you use it for email and internet?

Is it GSM, or PCS? How much do you want? You can't get them in Canada. Or they are very expensive.

I'll probably get an iPhone when my current phone's contract expires.

i have an iphone, and yes i use it for web and email, i was going to pick a 3g one, and sell this one unlocked to a buyer i have. but i decided to wait, incase any issues came with.
i love the hacks on the current ver. so might hold up on the upgrade. very tight device no matter what every 1 says. and the hacks prove the phone could do tons more than what apple allows you to do with it.

Yeah they're $199 in Canada but apparently nobody could activate them, except to make emergency calls because of an iTunes glitch.
A nice phone still but those HTC touch phones are nice too PLUS they have Wi-Fi.

Henning, you should know that if you cancel your phone service the iPhone locks up and you cannot use any of the features on it, except the ability to purchase music on iTunes I think?
I don't know if this happens with the newer 3G model but with the previous model that was a huge complaint. Imagine not being to access your contact lists, emails, pics, videos, etc. Pretty bad.
Hopefully that doesn't happen with this newer version though.

iPhone has WIFI as well and does a really great job changing between the networks making sure you get the fastest connection.
About the iPhone's locking up. Since everything on my iPhone is a sync of what is on my computer it isn't that big of a problem. Also, if you want to stop using the iPhone you simply sync it to your computer before you close it down. That mean that if you want to change to the 3G model all you have to do is sync again and it will have the same data as the old one.

No iPhone here, but all my inlaws seem to have one. ANd by all my inlaws I mean all two of them. lol They are pretty nifty, but far to expensive for my tastes. I am pretty happy with my LG Voyager. I was pretty happy to see this though:

Any cellphone I use MUST pass the 'drop' test, as I drop my cell phone regularly, about 3-4 times per month. If it was an iPhone (or similar) model, it would probably get damaged. So the cell phone I own has a protective case around it... maybe you can get these for the iPhone, but I really don't know.
Also I'm practical (and prefer the best deal value). For 2 years now, I've been with CricKet - no contract required, unlimited talk minutes, unlimited number of text messaging, for $45 per month + the taxes (under $54 each month). It was the no contract and unlimited minutes/text that attracted me to their service, which has been excellent. As far as I know, CricKet is the only somewhat-major cell service that offers UNLIMITED talk/text combined with no contract required, and at a much lower price than their competitors.

yes on the trailers.
also first Gen is easily unlockable, if you dont want the service, unlock it, and keep using it without service, and/ or with another service.
gotta admit, i dropped it twice ina puddle of water, dropped it serveral times, including on trip down the stairs, im not saying you should but the phone being all closed in, and you cant remove anyhting... helps it with durability. i mean, u know how sometimes you drop a phone, and all the instestines fall out of it?

Henning, a problem that I have is that even when there isn't that much info in the iPhone, when I plug it in and iTunes opens, the phone starts syncing, and in iTunes it says backing up, and when it's backing up, it takes a good 20 minutes or more, do you (or any other iPhone users) have the same problems?
