You gave "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" 10/10 for film value. I would have too. The only thing I would have liked to see, is if they could have made a movie in the book's perspective - of that American Indian guy. It was a first person story of him, but I guess first person perspectives in movies are pretty difficult to pull off without a lot of silly narrative. Then again, they could have somehow showed it through his eyes, as the in book just by having him again as the main character observing this crazy guy (Jack).

Then again, they dare not make a remake of this classic. I can predict what would happen... *gulp*

Yeah, the 1975 movie is based largely on the stage play, which changed the narrator's perspective. So we've got a movie based on a play based on a book. The original got a little lost in translation, but I'm a fan of all three versions (I saw the play three times in San Francisco's Little Fox Theater, and I used to teach the book).

I really don't see the problem in a film with narration nor do I think it's silly. I don't know why some people frown upon it when there have been a number of great films with narration. Casino, Goodfellas, Shawshank Redemption (to name a few) -- all good films with narration. . . what's the problem?

Nice avatar Tim. Oh ya I agree with your narration opinion plus I'm one of the few that liked the original Blade Runner that had narration by Harrison Ford.
