View profile »I'm not sure what your talking about.
When I said I liked multiple discs better than installing I was taking a jab at PS3.
If you don't know many games on PS3 force you to install them on the HDD because the Blu-ray drive in the console is too slow. The PS3 probaly uses a 2x Blu-ray drive.
The 360 version of FF13 will probably be 2-3 discs since Square uses alot of CG cutscenes.

View profile »I wasn't referring to your comment. The opening about allowing 360 games to be copied to the hard drive. Upon further research I found that it is part of the dashboard update later this year and is not a hardware update, fricken sweet.

View profile »Not all games force an install on you, and i have yet to come across a 20 to 30 min install. I also prefer the games with the install as this will extend the lifetime of my ps3's blu-ray drive, plus the hard drive uses less electricity than a dvd/rom drive.
I own both consoles, but i will buy it for ps3 and not for 360( just seems wrong ).

View profile »Was just about to comment on this but it looks like you found the answer yourself. It looks like you still will need an original copy of the disc in the system to prove that you own it. Otherwise you know blockbuster and hollywood video were about to get a ton of new game rentals this fall. It also sounds like after you copy the disc to the hard drive it will then only be accessed upon start up and then it will no longer be accessed during the duration of play. I am assuming this will also work for games that require multiple discs like Lost Oddysey and of course Final Fantasy 13 when it comes out but I am not sure. I'm sure microsoft is aiming for just that since switching out discs would defeat the purpose of being able to copy discs onto the hard drive. Now I'm wondering with all of the good news that M$ is giving gamers how will they mess this up. All of this almost sounds too good to be true and microsoft is known for messing up good things (see also Windows Vista...).
