The major advantage PS3 has is Blu-ray. We really have no idea how many people bought the stinker just for that capability. But I assume its a large majority since PS3 is lacking in the games department.
What MS really needs to do is price drop and KEEP it that way.

It's solely because of Blu-ray. Just judging from the posts here, when HD DVD went under, a large number of people went and snapped up the PS3 because it was the cheapest player on the market.
I would have bought one myself if it had a normal remote, but the Bluetooth was the dealbreaker for me, along with the updating horror stories. So I'm happy with my Panny.

That show you how much people do not trust Blu-Ray stand a lone clones...

I don't think it has anything to do with trust. The PS3 was just the most affordable, but that doesn't mean it outshines all of the other players.

I wouldn't buy a clone. It's obsolete before I get it out of the store. The PS3 is the only non obsolete Blu-Ray player, other than the Panasonic DMP-BD50. That unit is $700! The wife WILL NOT ALLOW ANOTHER GAMING CONSOLE IN THE HOUSE! Obsolete to you may be different from your point of view. No, offence but until this whole profile 2.0 jimmer jammer works itself out, Blu-Ray stand alone clone will have to wait. My $100 Blu-Ray ROM drive in my PC will have to do. Right not my HTPC is profile 2.0 and plays movies with perfection.

That's your opinion, but they aren't "clones." Most of them are from very reputable brand names.
Who's really going to use 2.0 features anyways? I've never used Internet features on my HD DVDs, so that's not really a valid argument.
If you're one of those people that goes through every single feature on your discs, it might be a good deal. However, judging from all the complaints about 2.0 slowness and lack of content, I wouldn't be surprised if the studios scrapped 2.0 plans altogether. It's just icing on top of icing, and for most people, it's starting to get too sweet.

Panasonic, Sony and Samsung are about the only non-clones. Everything else is a clone. I'm still not quite sure about Pioneer, they have been making clones for years.
As a matter of fact, I used the special features on the HD DVD's, and still use them on my DVD's. So now your saying is no one watches them just because you don't, or the profile 2.0 isn't worth their time? Are you the active voice candidate for consumers? I beg differ. Hogwash, the bugs should have been worked out, if they were going to advertise the shit out of the inferior product to begin with! I'm looking forward to see how they market 2.0 Live. God, we have been living with the constraints of non-interactive media for years! I't about time our money goes into something that actually works. So, Like I said before, I'm not going to drop my money on a "BRAND" or a "CLONE" until the bugs are worked out...

When standalone BD players hit $200 bucks this christmas lets see how many PS3s actually get sold. I imagine not as many as the 360.

LOL! DVDs don't even have 2.0 features! What the hell are you smoking?
I never said people don't use bonus features. I said they don't use 2.0 features. The ones with Internet connectivity. Sheesh.

Yes internet features never came into the equasion with dvd, and the online extras on hd-dvd were used by a teeny weeny wickle ammount of people, and to be honest were not worth jack shit
i could'nt give two monkeys about profile 2.0, only that the films and the making of docs work, neither do i give a crap about pic in pic( have had that feature on tv's and vcr's for years without ever using it, other than to see what it looked like ).

I know that smart ass!!! I was referring to the special features on a DVD, and did not imply that they were 2.0. So what the F*** are you smoking...

Then why did you make such a ridiculous comment? I was specifically saying that nobody really uses the Internet connectivity features, and then you post a remark in a tone that was correcting my statement.
If you have a 1.1 compliant player, you can play everything except the BD-Live stuff. And from reports, BD-Live isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's dreadfully slow, the content is lacking because studios can't figure out what to do with it right now, and so on.

Because you know full well that DVD isn't 2.0 or internet ready but you suggested it by my comment. I guess, I should have added better punctuation to all of my comments for now on! I was making a statment that I do watch special features, internet connective or not. Not all of them are great, but still give them a shot. 2.0 may not be the that great right now, but may be in the future. If they don't were still stuck in that interactless media, that we have been for the last 20 or so years... The interface is there, lets use it!

Actually PS3 outsold the Xbox 3 out of the 5 months and with the release of MGS4.. Duh it will sell very well in June. It actually outsold Xbox in June with the new NPD numbers out.
I don't think Sony is doing handsprings at this moment because I think they expected to be doing a lot better with the Blu Ray addition to their machine, and third place is not looking good for them.
Consoles are one part of the numbers to be watching, the other is software. This is where PS3 is seriously lacking in sales and rentals, add the sputtering take off of Blu ray movies, and it is no wonder Square decided to make FF13 on both consoles and not PS3 exclusive anymore.

well i think the fact that sony released metal gear last month had to do with the large number of sales for the ps3, i know alot of people who were waiting for that game to get a ps3, i wouldnt wave any white flags if i were microsoft just yet. but sony really had its best month of the year last month, but still couldnt beat the wii who sold 666,000 systems last month

PS3's best month is less than Wii's worst month.
Xbox's best month is less than Wii's worst month.
No wonder why Microsoft is looking at some of Wii's features and trying to copy them (motion sensor controllers).

Now I know you're talking out of your you know what. When did Pioneer ever make clones of anything? And Sony being one of the only companies not making clones? Ironically, it is Pioneer that made Sony's first Blu-ray player. the BDP-S1. In all your Sony/Blu-ray bashing you managed to even confuse yourself bud.

You said it, the day PS3 passes Wii in sales it'll be a sign of the Apocalypse or because is the end of this generation consoles. Now that Nintendo "perfected" the Wiimote with the extra accelerometer sensor which registers the smallest motion of the hand, the posibilities are endless for Nintendo and others to create awesome games (Star Wars lightsabers anyone?).
