The major advantage PS3 has is Blu-ray. We really have no idea how many people bought the stinker just for that capability. But I assume its a large majority since PS3 is lacking in the games department.

What MS really needs to do is price drop and KEEP it that way.

It's solely because of Blu-ray. Just judging from the posts here, when HD DVD went under, a large number of people went and snapped up the PS3 because it was the cheapest player on the market.

I would have bought one myself if it had a normal remote, but the Bluetooth was the dealbreaker for me, along with the updating horror stories. So I'm happy with my Panny.

Well I don't want to start an argument but what about game sales? They don't win that battle because alot of people at only buying a bluray player.

I don't think it has anything to do with trust. The PS3 was just the most affordable, but that doesn't mean it outshines all of the other players.

I wouldn't buy a clone. It's obsolete before I get it out of the store. The PS3 is the only non obsolete Blu-Ray player, other than the Panasonic DMP-BD50. That unit is $700! The wife WILL NOT ALLOW ANOTHER GAMING CONSOLE IN THE HOUSE! Obsolete to you may be different from your point of view. No, offence but until this whole profile 2.0 jimmer jammer works itself out, Blu-Ray stand alone clone will have to wait. My $100 Blu-Ray ROM drive in my PC will have to do. Right not my HTPC is profile 2.0 and plays movies with perfection.

That's your opinion, but they aren't "clones." Most of them are from very reputable brand names.

Who's really going to use 2.0 features anyways? I've never used Internet features on my HD DVDs, so that's not really a valid argument.

If you're one of those people that goes through every single feature on your discs, it might be a good deal. However, judging from all the complaints about 2.0 slowness and lack of content, I wouldn't be surprised if the studios scrapped 2.0 plans altogether. It's just icing on top of icing, and for most people, it's starting to get too sweet.

Panasonic, Sony and Samsung are about the only non-clones. Everything else is a clone. I'm still not quite sure about Pioneer, they have been making clones for years.

As a matter of fact, I used the special features on the HD DVD's, and still use them on my DVD's. So now your saying is no one watches them just because you don't, or the profile 2.0 isn't worth their time? Are you the active voice candidate for consumers? I beg differ. Hogwash, the bugs should have been worked out, if they were going to advertise the shit out of the inferior product to begin with! I'm looking forward to see how they market 2.0 Live. God, we have been living with the constraints of non-interactive media for years! I't about time our money goes into something that actually works. So, Like I said before, I'm not going to drop my money on a "BRAND" or a "CLONE" until the bugs are worked out...
