And all the more reason I'll wait a couple weeks to let the crowds die down! I'm sure it's worth it to see it right away, but I'm getting too old, cranky and can no longer handle the incompetence and lack of respect from audience members. The latest one that irks me is the idiots that are text messaging on their f-ing cell phones while the movie is playing! Do these people not realize that a lit up LCD on their phone is distracting?! Seriously, it’s getting to the point where cell phones should be against the law to bring into a theatre! It’s bad enough with loud-mouth talkers, restless children, obnoxious teenagers and bag rattlers (when I saw Wall-E, a little girl sat right next to me and questioned her mother about every little thing). And this is why I always sit in the back, top row just to avoid my favorite distraction, the seat kicker! I’m very excited to see TDK, but I’ll wait due to the lack of respect of other audience members. Thank God for HDTV the overall experience is so much more pleasant.

I've had similar experiences at the movies lately, Tim. My wife and I have even walked out because of disrespectful, moronic teenage audiences. I was a little worried when I went to see TDK on Friday in IMAX, but the audience was transfixed for the entire run time. I don't think I heard anyone say a word, and I definitely didn't see or hear any phones. At the end, the audience erupted into thunderous applause. That's what a movie experience should be like.

Looks like people gorged themselves on opening day and then slowed down the rest of the weekend. After $67M on opening day, it "only" did $155 M for the opening weekend. Still a record, but in terms of tickets sold it was a dead match with "Spider-Man 3." Which makes it a massive success, but not the earth-shattering one some predicted after Friday's blowout.

It's cruel to say, but they couldn't have asked for anything better than Heath Ledger dying. The movie apparently pulled in a much bigger female demographic than most super-hero movies, and I don't think it's because they developed a sudden fondness for Batman.

Well, if Batman were played by Matt Damon, then Eddie would have seen it at least twice, so far.

Do what I do, grab one of the little snots by the collar and tell him to shut, it before I get him encorted out! I've only done it once, but it was worth it!

The showing of the Dark Knight, I went everyone was quiet until the round of applause at the end!

i agree with Tom as well because i cant stand it when someone on the exact same row as me gets up to go to the toliet every time and it gets on my nerves, you have to get off yr seat every time again and again ect. Plus also when you get people kicking yr back seat i mean it just feels like you want to just get up and either kick their seat or if tht doesn't work get the inspector to boot the person out of the cinema.

this young pregnant lady had a freakin panic attack (FOR REAL.) right at the start of the hospital scene...that kinda pissed me off for I had to help carry her out of the theater and missed half of the scene!

Bladerunner, at least you did the right thing by helping her. That's what really counts. I'm sure you'll see Dark Knight at least a couple of more times in your lifetime so it's all good.

Tim, if you don't want to deal with the audience.... do what I did, arrange a private screening. It may cost you a tad, unless like me you are trying to buy the theater.

it was just me and , well.... me at 12:45am on Saturday morning in a 500 seat theater. Well and the projectionist, but we are good friends anyway. The only complaint was from our chatter because we were Mystery Science Theatering the film when a flaw came up. We however, found no flaws in Heath's Joker.

I am glad this toppled Spidey 3 for all time weekend opening. Spidey 3 sucked and didn't deserve the opening weekend it had. The marketing of Spidey 3 was very misleading, promising a darker film and when it was all said and done it was just a big turd left floating in the bowl.
