well its not exactly a weak point is it?

i should think thats why a good half of ps3 owners have one for gods sake

they need to stop whining and embrace the fact that dvd isn't going to last them forever
even if they make their own disc format, it'll obviously have to support blu ray playback
MS needs a reality check, they have to embrace blu ray sooner or later

It's not an advantage, says Microsoft, who supported HD DVD and found themselves on the wrong side of the "war." Yup, impartial analysis there.

See I think you guys are missing one simple point. Their business is doing just fine without HD DVD. Remember HD DVD was just a movie add-on. It was a token peice to their solid gaming platform. (Not counting the RROD stuff you negative MS bashers) So, in a way why re-invent the wheel, if their gaming business already has suceeded! Adding Blu-Ray doesn't really help them, on a sales front, doesn't help them from a gaming aspect. It is fair to say that their gaming sales are really, really good, at a second place behind the Wii? Are they not? I think this employee of MS, is putting all the stupid hype down that MS is not going to release a Blu-Ray drive. You guys do know that a Third Gen XBOX is in the works. No official lauch date, but it is believed that the Cell chip may be used? Mere specualtion at this time. Last MS report has it Beta testing by spring of 09'. New technolgoy is being tested, and dreamed up for this new console. I recieve the MS tech editor newletter. There is still ample time to use Blu-Ray technology in the next platform. Like I said before,

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, just for the sake of fixing!

Reaggie, to a certain extent I do agree with you. For Microsoft, BD might not be important. And in the grand scheme of things, for Sony's gaming division, it may not be a big thing. But for the PS3 to become the media super-hub whatever, a BD drive is critical, I think.

The only point being, for me, is the quote would have had more legitimacy coming from an outside source than from inside Microsoft.

Jason, agreeing
