Aaron Eckhart said he would sign on to a third batman. How exactly would that work unless they were wrong about his death. I always thought Two Face would be the next villain until I saw the end of TDK.

It's possible. I'm not so sure he died in Dark Knight.

I just find it hard to believe that gordon would have a funeral service unless he knew harvey was dead for sure.

Why fake harvey's death just to see him come back to bite you in the ass.

The Dark knight follows references the Batman graphic novel “The Long Halloween” in which he fights the joker and two face is created. “Dark Victory” the sequel graphic novel then continues with the story of two face. You can read the plots summaries on the links provided. In a nutshell "The Long Halloween" is almost identical to the story we see in The Dark Knight. Dark victory continues the story with Two Face/Harvey Dent in Arkam and the mob breaking in to kill him to avenge their dead bosses
As it was made clear at the end of The Dark Knight, it couldn't be known to the public of what he has done to save his image and the people's hope.
So lets say he did survive, they would still have to preserve his image. He is a murderer, so they could legally lock him up in Arkam Asylum.
Yeah, the possibility of him breaking out is always there, but unlike the villains they aren't murderers and would have no choice but to lock him up.

Since Batman is on the run now because he is supposedly the bad guy I'm going to assume that he's going into hiding for a little bit? Then maybe Harvey Dent resurfaces somehow which forces Batman to come out of hiding? Who knows.

Lucious Fox said Batman's new suit could withstand a cat. Did anyone else catch that? I think that's a giveaway for Cat Woman being in the third movie. Anyone else catch that?

IGN put out a list of villains and how they would fit into Nolan's world along with their ideal cast.
I've read in a few places that Nolan said there won't be a Penguin, Catwoman, or Robin in his era.
Which leads me to believe the cat reference to be nothing more than Nolan throwing the die hards a bone.

batman is going to be the next villian. rachel is coming back from the dead as poison ivy. dent is going to have plastic surgery and become the riddler . gordon is going to fake his death AGAIN so that he can hang with batman. and the joker is still going to be hanging upside down.

Remember, we never saw Rachel die. As far as the editing went, she could easily have been in a different warehouse altogether from either of the places that blew up. Hell, maybe she's still waiting there wondering when the hell somebody's going to untie her.
And maybe the Harvey Dent we saw die was really Clayface in disguise. OK, maybe that's pushing it.

i think you guys are reading too much into lucius fox's joke about the batsuit stopping a cat. bruce wayne asks fox to design a suit that can withstand a dog attack because he was bitten/clawed by dogs at the beginning of the movie. fox was just ribbing batman about being afraid of some pooches.
chris: i thought you were clayface?

I mean, in the Dark Knight, anything can happen! (even having your Superman wanna-be moments, no joke)...
And I think not having Robin in his Batman movies, is kinda ok, but Catwoman, or the Penguin??? Come on! I mean, Nolan did do a better Joker (according to this new times, we can't judge a movie that's almost 20 years old with one more recent), but I think trying to do a better Catwoman and Penguin is very, very, VERY difficult...your pick.
By the way, the CADMUS storyline from Justice League Unlimited (the cartoon, yes) blows ALL the late superhero movies by a whole lot more than you can expect...all of them, ALL...

'Dark Knight' Script Answers Highly Debated Question: Did Harvey 'Two-Face' Dent Live Or Die?Despite memorial service in the film, many fans thought villain would return for 'Batman 3.'
The script for the blockbuster sequel was made available for purchase on Tuesday and soon after found its way online. It's a long read at 167 pages, but fans looking for confirmation on the fate of Dent need only look at page 163.
"Dent lies at the bottom of the hole, his neck broken," the stage direction, written by brothers Jonathan and Christopher Nolan, reads. "DEAD." (Capital letters their emphasis, not ours.)
Although some already are arguing that because it refers to the character as "Dent" and not "Two-Face," it's possible the villain could make a return appearance, but Gotham's D.A. is always referred to as Dent throughout the script, even after his transformation.

It's over Johnny.
According to the below interview with Eckhart, no more Two-Face.

Yeah Jeez, Robin is only they most important character in the Batman Mythos besides Batman himself. All he does is keep Batman grounded and from crossing the line into becoming someone like Ras Al Ghul. There's also the father son dynamic and the uncomfortable idea that Bruce Wayne is training a young orphan to essentially take over the most dangerous job in the world, the Mantle of the Bat. Yeah there's no story possibilities there at all.

I've always viewed Robin as a crutch to Batman. I'll be more than happy if they continue to leave the bird brain out of any future films.

Michael Caine Says Johnny Depp Is The Riddler, Philip Seymour Hoffman Is The Penguin
I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive and I said, ‘Are we going to make another one?’ They said yeah. I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath? And he says ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.’ I said, ‘S–t, they’ve done it again!’” [Laughs]

I don't know if Michael is pulling our legs or what so I'll take this with a grain of salt.
