Just read the headlines today about Bennigan's and Steak & Ale going out of business.
I never really went to Steak & Ale that much but Bennigan's had some of the best burgers.
Another sign that the U.S. economy is really struggling right now. The thought that immediately comes to my mind in light of all of this is how long before escalating prices for basic goods begins to cut into the luxuries that consumers enjoy. Luxuries meaning different forms of entertainement whether it be renting or buying dvds, purchasing music, going to the theater, or in this case dining out at restaurants. The question I have for those who care to respond is have any of you had to curtail any of your hobbies that relate to these luxuries? I will start first. I definitely had to cut back on eating out and I recently changed jobs to be closer to home because of gas prices.

I think I know what you mean. Maybe some good will come from all of this in that people will start putting more value in the things that money can't buy like family and relationships.

chemteam. right on! the family unit must be "rebuilt" as a national and global importance. and if we must loose a few fringe benefits in order to do this...hell if the whole damn nation has to collapse in order to do this.. then, so be it.

I started to buy groceries at Walmart. In part to save the money on the groceries. But also because I can do all my shopping at one place. Which saves gas. I eat out less too. And when I do eat out it I go some where cheaper. I haven't really seen prices go up terribly. But I want to save money now to be prepared for the future.
